Commiserations, but thanks for letting us know what happened, what the outcome was.

I will confess that - simply going by the original post - that I did not hold out too much hope and would not have been terribly optimistic as to the long term survival of this relationship.

Actually, I will speculate that the relationship may have been moribund a long time before the final extinction event (deliberately, I suspect) detonated it for good.
