Looking for some feedback

I'm sorry my site took forever to load. I guess I have to realize not everyone has a high end PC with really fast broadband like me. I also tested the load speed on my ipad air and it took 3 seconds for all the images to load. I don't think that's a long time. Perhaps it's slower on a older device. ...

The only way it would take 3 seconds to load all images is if you loaded the site before and the device cached all the files. No way would it take 3 seconds when loading for the first time, even on a relatively fast connection. When I first open the page with all the photos, I see the header and the first photo, and for a while it appears there is only that one image on the page. Then I realize I can scroll to see more (not everyone has the patience to wait for that realization), and the images kept loading for at least a minute. I have a year old MBP and a 50 Mbps connection, so I don't know how much more you expect people to have in term of equipment and service.

Okay, I'll adjust the image sizes for faster load times. Thanks for the feedback.

I adjusted the image sizes and load times. I hope this helps load everything faster for everyone. ;)

I prefer all the images to load at once rather than tiny thumbnails which then you have to click on one by one. I find that very irritating.

I’m viewing on a machine with a quad-core i7 and 16GB of RAM, using a fast broadband connection. Sounds as though I’m late with this info, though, and you’ve made some changes. I’ll have a look again tomorrow when I have more time.

I really loved a lot of the images on your website. What kind of camera do you use? I'm going to guess it's a Nikon based on the dynamic range in your photos. I use a Canon 6D now which I love. (I don't like nikon controls or the menu systems, lol )You mentioned you don't use HDR, but you combine multiple exposures instead. What's the difference?

The difference between basic HDR and exposure blending is the ability to make localized/selective tonal changes with complete control over which tones change by how much in any given area of a scene. Blending also gives you the control to make tonal changes and color changes completely separate from each other, so that you don’t get unwanted color shifts just because you changed some tonal values. Also, if you know what you’re doing, blending will ensure that you’ll never have halos around the contours of contrasty features and that you can avoid having blurry areas where objects were moving between exposures.

Conversely, a basic HDR application is a global process that sees all areas only as measurable tones. Basic HDR will change all tones of a given value equally, even those that may not benefit from it visually. It will also change color saturation and apply microcontrast in the same fashion, causing all sorts of distracting effects that are best avoided.

And no, I don’t use a Nikon camera. I’m currently using a Canon 5D Mark III. When the dynamic range of a scene exceeds what my sensor can capture, I bracket and blend the exposures by hand (using layers and masks).

Oh, and thanks for your kind words about my photos. #

I just took a moment to revisit your site. It does load a bit more quickly now, but it's still slow, with unloaded images appearing as black frames as I scroll down. Besides the speed, the format is just unappealing in my opinion. It lacks organization and requires too much scrolling. I doubt that most users will bother to scroll all the way down to view all of the images, so the ones at the bottom may never catch any eyeballs.
