if i re-route the music from the ipod thru my head unit that will improve the sound but defeat the purpose of the earbuds as i have a pair of dj type head phones i use with my equipment for the loud bumping sounds. I guess I am asking too much from a 200 dollar ipod v.s using a massive head unit . thanks for the idea will try testing the earbuds on the head unit and see which holds up the best the sennheiser or the shure’s should be fun ..
So you would rate the shure 530’s against what other ear buds did you try? do they deliver nice high and mids paired well with the bass.

I'm using the se530's with an iPod touch 3g. I too was looking at the sennheiser, but didn't want that much bass, based on what I've read. The shure's are pretty awesome. You'll need to get a headphone amp to get the most out of them when using an iPod but the difference is significant. When plugged into my dedicated cd player the performance is quite impressive. These are highly recommended.

exactly

Not if you want bass.
yeah exactly no cans just nice buds and nice tunes with the most comfort and the best sound . One thing I hate is A speaker that goes to the high end of the sound spectrum when the volume gets tuned up..I want lateral sound dispersion across the spectrum from bass to mids to highs . Now I went out today and bought a pair of dr.dre’s tour earbuds . and so far they are nice not great but nice . Better bass than the shure 210’s but no mids..some what missing the strings. guess the next buy will be the shure 530 and the sennheiser’s i8. supposedly they have dual woofer’s for that booming bass and play the mids and highs accordingly ..there goes 1000.00 .

thanks

Will read up on the reviews presented . And thanks for all the responses . My next topic will be on the Nike sensor that goes in your shoe and does it work?;)

for ~$500, you can get a pair of unique melody mages, a custom IEM that's very comparable to JH13 and UE11s. you need to get ear molds, send them to china, and have the IEMs made, which takes about two weeks, but for a product that's almost as good as other sets that are twice as expensive, its a good deal.

but yeah, go to headfi. though in that price range, you're just stepping out of high end IEMs like the Westone 3 and Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10s and into custom IEM territory.

also, don't get beats. over priced and low quality. the extended bass gives the impression of quality.

my wallet

I will be victorious, just told my wife that I will be buying alot more till satisfied . She is was less than thrilled I have noticed that each ear bud needs time. Break in time weird I know I too thought it was just a sales ploy. But as I time went on the bass improved on the shure’s . The sony’s just hurt my ear with prolong wear. The beats by Dre have the bass but not enough clarity . So if you have the sennheiser I8’s or the Shure 530 or 530 pth(push to hear) model sound off as those are next on my list.
To recap I have tried the earbuds that came with the ipod touch . ouche
skull candy brand loud but more for my kids.
shure se230’s nice foam inserts hours of listening without discomfort lacking in the deep bass sounds.
sony’s pro series nice sound nice bass but too bland either bass or highs no mids.
And the Dr.Dre tour design ear buds alot of bass drowns out mids and need a wider spectrum of sound for different types of music. Now I wrote Monster and asked why they do not put the specs on the box like everyone else , they said that they just don’t because the consumer has no way to decipher the data basically wow.
I found if they say 10hz to 20khz you get decent bass at least in my testing..
thanks for reading about my quest for the best buds for my ipod’s next is the nike sensor for jogging

Look here. Sorry about your wallet.
