Moto E 4G (2nd gen) with the Snapdragon 410. Try finding a Verizon prepaid one at Best Buy for $50.

If it is on Lollipop 5.1, there is a trick using the Network app, turning on and off the radio, and finding the 4G on the mobile network in the settings app. It won't appear as a recommendation at first. You have to keep doing it over and over of turning off the signal until the 4G option shows up. But it will be unlocked. Find the instructions on XDA forums.

Well....I find the iPhone pretty damn reliable.

Maybe that new blackberry priv, or whatever it so called? Runs android with blackberry security.

Alternatively on of the new Windows handsets by Microsoft.

Outside of that, there isn't much. The iPhone is a reliable phone, and actually that is one of its selling points.

As a side note to other posters, don't bash what I said above. You may hate the iPhone, but try and be logical. The guy doesn't need a fanboy approach and advice. Personally I love the nexus line of devices. I have and love my iPhone 6s Plus, and I consider the nexus 6p on par for cheaper.

Pre-emptive: Please don't tell me that you're not experiencing the issues I'm seeing or try to sell me on the iPhone. Thanks in advance.

I'm in my mid-twenties and I have an iPhone 6 + Apple Watch, and general unreliability has driven me to the point where I'm better off with no phone versus an iPhone. I want to switch.

What I'm after in a phone is reliability: I don't want to deal with the dialer / messages app crashing, and I want no random battery drain issues since I need my phone during the day and use it as an alarm for the morning. I text *A LOT*, and something that supports WhatsApp would be a plus. Mapping would be a nice extra, but I'd rather give it up than deal with bad mapping apps. Something like a more modern Motorola V3i would be perfect, and in general the dumber the phone the better. I don't want a cheap Android that'll never get updates, but I'd live with something as solid as the old Nokia / Motorola phones as-is with no future updates.

I actually looked at the RAZRs and they're like $50 a piece (cheap!), but I was wondering whether there's something newer out there.

You will be worse off going to any other iphone especially Androids. As your complaints are 10x worse on that side of the house. I have had no issues with my 6S Plus compared to any of my Androids (Note 4, Note 3, S4, etc)

LOL not.

My Android phones " Just work " they are butter smooth, warp speed fast, and NEVER restart themselves, or act flaky or stutter, or lock up, never once. Android flagships for me, have been rock solid stable. Can't say that for the two iPhone's I have owned; Lag city, and freeze ups.

Haha, you make me laugh. Sorry but the iPhone is way more stable and it just works vs any Android device. And I have had a ton of Android and iPhones.

Yeah sure. My ipad is as unstable as my android phone. Both need restarting once or twice a week to sort out problems.

Really that hard to decide on phones? Go into a best buy or a wireless store and mess around with them, pick one and move on.

All phones suck equally IMO. These killer cameras are straight garbage compared to a real camera. 4k video LMAO wretched quality as well. My advice go flip phone, all this smartphone and current pricing pans are ripoffs. All of them.

You aren't going to find a device more reliable than the iPhone unless you can do without a smartphone period.

I use an Android device for work and it's flakey as hell, even on Lollipop. Blackberry is almost dead. Good luck.
Isn't there a well known article saying ios Apps crash more than android ones... ?

My s6 edge plus is awesome.. I've had LG g3 and htc one m7 over the last few years, both reliable as hell, who needs a genius bar if your phone just works. ..
Apple need to have the best returns policy for a specific reason.. if they didn't, boy would they lose customers hand over fist..

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
It's sooo funny, reading this thread is like iOS 7 and iOS 8 never happened...

Stable phones my rear end! Don't make me post links to those reports of those previous bugs. Has the iPhone alarm learnt to turn on in a new year yet? Both Android and iOS have had reliability problems. Should be thankful it's all software as it can be fixed.

To the OP, take a look at the low end Microsoft, Motorola and Sony phones. Particularly the low end Lumias. Also don't forget that Nokia are making their own Android handsets again soon.

Gotta be in it to win it
I wasn't trying to start a flame war. That is my legit personal experience. I've got 3 small children, I don't have time for that crap.
My iPhone's have been solid since the 5s, and you could web search any point you want to make on this with any model and even point to a "personal " experience of any brand that's less than stellar. Op should get what he wants, but if any brand were as "bad" as all that, they'd be gone.
