Looks Like Ventura Broke My Optimized Battery Charging

Is it just me or does anyone else notice their 16" MBP stay fully charged without learning charging habits in Ventura? I have my laptop plugged in all the time with the occasional battery usage and it used to default back to optimized charging to 80%, but it has stayed 100% since I upgraded to Ventura.

I rebooted the laptop a few times with no success.

My over year old 16" MBP has only 28 cycles and a 100% battery capacity due to the fact that I keep it plugged in and with the optimized charging kicking in just in time...until now. What could be the problem?

UPDATE: As if on cue, Optimized Battery Charging kicked in today, exactly 2 weeks after updating to Ventura. I should have been more patient hehe..

macOS takes time to learn your patterns. Maybe the update reset that. It took two weeks of 100% before Monterey started limiting me.

I'm willing to wait a little more but this seems to be taking longer than my experience with Monterey.

It's hidden: Click the (i) after Battery Health on the right, and it'll give you the option there now.

In the battery pane, click the exclamation point to the right of Normal and you will see the option.

It is confusing when you are used to where everything was before. I have had good luck just typing what I want in the search bar up top.

It's been more than two weeks for me and it still hasn't kicked in. The computer has been plugged in the entire time. I hope it engages soon or I will believe that it is broken.

Want to add, I installed Ventura last month, started this thread on 11/4, checked this morning both on battery and plugged in. Am using eldente and it limits my charge but that’s it. But interesting to me is that my battery health has gone from 78% to 85% since I started using, so that is good.

Try, turning it off and on. This seemed to work for me when mine was still learning my usage.

I toggled this off and back on about two weeks ago, because mine has also been staying at 100% when on the charger since updating to Ventura. Before that, it did a near-perfect job of keeping it at 80% on the charger. It still hasn't relearned anything and is still keeping it at 100% when on the charger. What gives?

Mine still stays at 100% even after I upgraded to Ventura exactly 2 weeks ago. The system report says upgraded on 12/5/22. So something isn't right. It's just annoying that your upgraded MacOS doesn't inherit your charging patter from the previous OS version.

Update: The 80% charging finally started this morning. So it's not exact 14 days. It's about 14 days give or take a day or two.

I updated to Ventura on 1/1/2023 and I have no "battery health" information or way to "preserve the battery" option. I'm on 13.1 OCLP 11,5 2015 MacBook Pro....Will this eventually appear?

From the first screen click the letter i to the right of Battery Health Normal and you will get my second screen with the Optimize option you are after.
