sounds like a great tool for stalkers...seems like a rather bad idea.

Hope it doesn't work out that way though.

EDIT:

Pretty cool app for parents keeping track of their kids though.

There has been a lot of misconception about these location based social network apps. With the iPhone version of both, you have to confirm someone as your friend so they can see your current location (and current locations are only taken when the app is opened, so it's only when given it permission to do so). Unless the stalker is your best friend (or you're a complete idiot), there is little danger in these sorts of applications. Try out an application first before you start getting paranoid about it.

Right because people are always honest about stalking someone and give detailed information on their evil plans.

So apparently my account got suspended and I do not know why. They did not send me any reason as to why my account was suspended. When I tried logging in I was prompted with a sorry your account has been suspended please call us at ... I refuse to waste my time to call in, so I sent a quick email to them instead asking them why I was suspended. I also asked if I could have my account terminated if the issue could not be resolved through an email. I did not get any replies back, but my account has been terminated. I guess, thank you for your service, and "great" communication skills.

I would of appreciated a confirmation or some acknowledgment.

Pretty much everything has to use SMS at this point because Apple doesn't have their application push service up yet. I'm sure once they do that then the apps will be updated to use that service and not precious SMS messages.

Does it only show up to date locations of each other when you both (or however many people) have Loopt open?

loopt updates once when you log onto the app. It does not show real time. If you close the app and open it constantly that is as real time as you can get. What happens is if you see someone close by, you ping them (sends a text to them). They can click on the link to open the app and update their location.
