I hope there was an IP address, which should have been one belonging to PIA and not the IP address of your home router.

DNS Server. The load on Cloudflare (and other big DNS providers) is so great that 1.1.1.1 gets rerouted to whatever Cloudflare server(s) are nearest to you. I get 172.71.89.70 which is an Australian Cloudflare DNS server. So all as expected.
