I couldn't wait any longer so I picked up a 2010 5,1 3.33 6 core. I'm lovin' it ('Til the new one comes out, of course).

nMP will be available for pre-order on 12/20/13.

In-store availability on 2/14/14 with units shipping same week. (~60 days not unusual for new models)

As it was unveiled in June 2013…only 8 month wait before actually unboxing it.

Patience builds character…..

So you did see that date? Can I ask you where?
If so wow dat sucks. But kinda ok gives me time to sell my 8core mp. So do u think if I get stock $3999 version it'll be ready immediately?

Wish I had something more firm than my "guess" but I have simply extrapolated the glacial pace of this rollout into what is essentially a worst case scenario.

12/20 - last day of "fall" (original promise....now they say Dec so that could mean 12/31)
2/14 - Not uncommon for new models to have a considerable delay between when you can order and when order shows up. Hopefully it is not worse than 45-60 days.

Something is causing a delay. I am guessing that it is something in the supply chain that is holding things up (yields? part testing/qualification? component price fluctuation? contracts?). I would have a hard time believing that Apple's own HW/SW integration is the holdup.

Regardless, I (like everyone else) still hope it is physically available in December (1st would be nice). But I also don't want to be set up for more disappointment.

Hence...Valentine's Day???

I bet BTO will have a wait time, but I have no doubt that the models listed on Apple's site will be available to buy on launch day at some point in December. They're not going to have a 3rd announcement to announce availability next year, then have a launch day next year as well.

It's coming in December, meaning it will be available.

Bootcamp

I was just looking over the 'included software' that is listed on the Mac Pro page at the Apple Store. It lists a lot of software but it DOES NOT list bootcamp. Does this mean that the new MacPro will not support bootcamp in order to run my windows based business apps???

Bootcamp is nothing more than a version of Disk Utility that holds your hand along the way. Just use Disk Utility if Apple somehow forgets to include Boot Camp.

Well, it is also the Windows drivers for the hardware, which could potentially be a challenge (certainly at first) with whatever loopy, moon-unit hardware that Apple uses to build these new Mac Pros.

It will of course include the bootcamp utility to partition your drive to install Windows. You will need a licence key to install either Windows 7 x64 or 8 x64, using a USB drive it will download the Windows drivers for the Black Can. I would suggest buying a USB superdrive too as Apple's idea of a USB windows install is buggy even now. As Nugget has said though the early days of Windows driver support are no doubt going to be traumatic. Apple's idea of beta testing bootcamp drivers for brand new pieces of hardware (this is probably the most different yet) is generally a public release, wait for all hell to break loose then fix the bugs.

I'm going to be joining your club next month when two customers of mine buy the Black Can for mostly Windows usage. No doubt we'll all be whinging like hell on here and on the bootcamp section of this site :D

VM software is another alternative, and assuming this person is a business user, it should be more than affordable, especially if it lets him use business-critical software. Parallels performs great on my old Mac Pro, so I can only imagine how well it would run on the new one.

I don't think the new Mac Pro uses any special hardware, though. The motherboard is definitely split in order to fit a cyllindrical shape, but other than that could be just another intel PC.

New intel server chipset windows support, Twin firepro cards in unknown linked configuration, PCIe SSD drivers/Intel RST, thunderbolt 2 drivers, USB 3 Drivers and then the ATI drivers themselves. All to work properly in Windows at launch with all apps never mind ones which use GPU as Adobe CS6, Avid etc.

I know if I was a betting man where to lay my money on it being 'smooth as silk' or 'pigs ear' at first :D

"Yoda: PATIENCE YOU MUST HAVE..."

I'm with you but I'm not losing my patience, just waiting...

Sem stress é só um computador = no stress it's just a computer.

I wouldn't have minded the wait, but there are still so many unanswered pricing and availability Issues this close to the end of the fiscal year. I decided to just get a 12 core refurb the next time one popped up at the Apple Store, and outfit it at my leisure.

If I still want an nMP next year, I'll get one, probably a refurb.

I look at the Old Mac Pro as a workstation for the price of a ThunderBolt Peripheral

----------

I too am waiting for the MP..good things come to those who wait.:apple:
Old-Age and Death are two.

Check OWC - http://eshop.macsales.com/Search/SearchPromo.cfm?Ntk=Primary&Ns=P_ID%7c1&Ne=5000&N=100402&Ntt=OWCUsedMac&utm_source=diglloyd-mpg

It might appear a 12 Core there.

i've come to turns with it, but the sad thing is that these loosers look like idiots. It's a doggy dog world and they're selling themselves short. One mispeled post to the internet and -- walla -- the whole world knows they don't read books.

lol!

Thanks, those are some sweet deals, looks like only up to 8-core right now, I could have sworn I looked a while back and they barely had anything; but I got a refurb 12-Core at the Apple Store and it showed up Monday (after ordering it Saturday, pretty quick) with Free Shipping, I know OWC would've dinged me good for the long haul.

The OMPs keep popping up and selling out on the Apple Store, so somebody want's 'em besides me.

Now I just have to figure out vid card(s) upgrade, PCIe Storage and whether or not to upgrade the 2.4GHz Processors. I'm sure I'll get lots of suggestions here.

I like working with known quantities, makes life less traumatic.

Yeah, but it doesn't build Timely, Tax-related Business Expenses.

December 31st at Midnight, my wallet turns into a pumpkin, and I have to start earning money all over again.

One year, three large purchases showed up a week late, Pushed the write-offs into the next year, and the unusually large amount triggered an audit, good thing I was squeaky clean, can't recommend it for the faint of heart or the person who loves to fudge the numbers.

What do you expect? This is just an online message board. Nobody here is going to win the pullet surprise for their posts. Mistakes like spelling "lose" as "loose" are pardon parcel with people who learn the language through talking and not through reading.

I could of made that same mistake if I hadn't learned these words by reading them. Sadly, people who don't read just can't cut the muster. Alot of people would just assume watch a movie instead of read a book and it shows in there writing. For all intensive purposes they are exposed to new words strickly by hearing them and they never learn the proper spelling -- It is simple cause and affect. If this subject peeks your interest there are lots of web sight's that can help you learn more.

One mispeled post to the internet and -- walla -- the whole world knows they don't read books. And there's no statue of limitations for Internet posts -- it will be in Google forever. What could be more important then that? I don't mean that there dumb persay, just that there supposably illiterate. That's not an ad homonym attack, it's just the truth. You might think that this is all just a mute point but I prefer to air on the side of caution. Common, if you don't think spelling matters you're diluting yourself. Don't be rediculous. Learning how to spell will go along way towards making your point. If you want to type a word and you don't know it's proper spelling just look it up on google. I could care less how busy you are, take the time to get it right!

I had a piffany about this: learning to spell words is a right of passage that is to important to skip. Take my advise: if you don't read you'll never be a bonified grammer nazi like me.

What can I say? People who can't spell "lose" just demonstrate that ignorance is blitz.

This thing is truly a masterpeace; it should go on the MacRumors best-of and be brandished at any grammarian who would force others to tow the line.
