Guys ! Any Apple device is a very thoughtfully designed, extremely niche item. Don't think Johnny Ivy and company would just randomly wake up one day and start inviting suggestions on how to design their gadgets. If that was the case Apple would be like any Grocery store offering household items which do not require any thinking. Apple products are extremely thought about and carefully crafted stuff. So none of this fancy ideas is gonna appeal Apple. And for the better it should not even reach Apple. God knows what a bizzare item would it turn out to be if Apple started listening to some immature wannabe suggesting some whacko ideas on how their stuff should look. I absolutely do not want that as a Apple Customer !!
Uh...Jony Ive did listen to customers complaining about the pencil since 2015, and because of the complaints knew to design a better one with matte grip, that has magnets to keep on the device, and flat sides so the pencil doesn't roll off the table. In 2015 customers had better ideas than Jony Ive.

Hey OP.

This one time I got a pair of $60 JBL Bluetooth earbuds at the airport just before a flight. I lost them on the way to the gate - really Guinness Book record-breaking stuff, I had them for less than 10 minutes. I bought another pair at the destination out of anger, which means I paid $120 for $60 earbuds and MANY spare tips.

I was very mad at the world for being so unfair, why me etc., but at the end of the day it was 100% my fault for being stupid.

So please take care of your expensive gear. Or have it engraved with “Property of Lee Kibum” or something.
I did this with a set of Bose QC35s. I think I did have them longer than a few hours though.

I don't have the new pencil, but the new Otterbox case seems to be a fantastic option as it flaps over the pencil.

My pencil only stays attached on my desk at work. Otherwise it goes right back in its own pocket in my bag as soon as I’m done using it.

Otterbox just announced something like what I mentioned above: https://9to5mac.com/2018/11/20/otterbox-ipad-pro-case/

Looks pretty good IMO, although no smart keyboard which could be annoying to some.

I think that pencil flap would make holding the iPad annoying.

I do similar. Everywhere in a small place (my house, hotel room, etc.) it goes on the iPad. Before walking out the door, iPad goes in sleeve in the bag and pencil in a dedicated leather pencil sleeve in the bag that I had left over. Both nice and safe for traveling about.

Also worth engraving the pencil with something embarrassing so that nobody will keep it for themselves.

Yeah that’s going to make someone decide to send it back to you. Maybe if it’s a personal friend who found it but a random out in the world that is inclined to keep it will do so

Apple employees regularly read these forums...

Retail staff perhaps but not likely corporate and not likely anyone that is going to care what folks here think about how Apple should do things. Otherwise we’d have $200 iPad Pros that have a merged Mac/iOS system and look like a Microsoft Surface. And so on

Ouch.

Apple could throw in the Pencil for everyone. :D

Apple could knock all their prices down to 1/10th of what they are, set up a free ISP and cell service, give everyone 20TB of iCloud and have every possible movie and tv show in 4K HDR Atmos for 10 cents each and folks would still find something to gripe about

Developers, marketing and design people all frequent these forums. I won't claim that they listen to any wild ideas but don't think that they aren't very much on the pulse of what is discussed about their products.

‘Reading’ is one thing, however; They (Apple employees) Are actually regulated _not_ to participate/conjoin in any third-party tech forums, which I believe is even stated in Apple’s policy/procedure guidelines upon hire.

Regardless, OP, The magnet on Apple Pencil is only sufficient for charging/pairing, not really for toting around attached to the iPad. As you can see, others have easily lost their Apple Pencil. I don’t think Apple needs to make the magnet stronger, and I may be in the minority, but I would really like to see some built-in Apple Pencil into the iPad chassis itself, but I realize that makes the iPad ‘thicker.’

I would never keep it like that when traveling but it’s great around the house and office.

I use a pencil holder that attaches by strong adhesive to the back of the new keyboard case. Actually looks like it came with it. It’s made by Zugucase.com who I think make the best iPad cases. Although this time I’m using the Apple keyboard case. Zugu’s cases come with a pencil holder built in.
