Visual Hub would have taken a lot less time. I did this because I no longer own a DVD player.

sure, visual hub would take less because its dealing with compressed files... to do this in FCP it has alot more to render, crunch, process etc... I can understand merging a 2 disc concert DVD to one file, but all that work just so you can watch it as a 12 hour show all at once, seems insane to me.

I concur. Maybe he was too busy playing D&D to change the DVDs?

ahhh. That sounds entirely needed. What a crazily over hyped movie.

That wasn't my opinion on anyone's taste it was my opinion on a movie. I answered his question as best I could, I just added something I felt like sharing.

And just why did you feel the need to share this opinion? Whether or not you intend it to be taken this way, you are insulting a movie that the OP (and a great deal of other people) obviously likes. It is an unnecessary comment.

If someone asked you their opinion on how to get tar off their car, would you give them advice and then say “that sure is a hideous color”?

If someone asks for opinions on something, it is certainly proper to tell them what you think. If someone asks for technical advice, it is just plain rude to make a derogatory comment that is unrelated to the question.

You really have derailed this thread, it was just my opinion I stand by it. Want more of my opinion? Peter Jackson is a horrible director, but he knows how to market. A good movie only has what it needs. A good director knows what to cut out, there are many scenes in the film that aren't needed, are too long, or just seem out of place. The transitions between scenes are repetitive, and the second and third movie are exactly the same. Want to hear more?

In my opinion it is just plain rude of you to attack me for one snide comment. It has been dealt with, another poster already said exactly what you said (way to be redundant, maybe you should read the thread).

And just how many snide comments is one allowed before it’s okay to take them to task for it? If you had responded to the first guy who chastised you with something along the lines of “sorry, I just never liked the movie, but I probably shouldn’t have mentioned it”, we wouldn’t be having this little sidebar. However, you responded by stating why you made the original comment as if it were a valid reason. It was not. Your initial comment on the film had no place in this thread, yet you seem to think it's okay to throw in insults simply because you feel like it.

Oh, it's not an insult, it’s only your opinion? When you insult an entity without provocation or invitation to the (virtual) face of someone who has already made it clear that he likes that entity, you are not only insulting the entity, you are insulting the person. If you understood this, you would probably learn when to express your opinions and when to keep them to yourself.

That sounds like an attack on my character. Is that really needed? Why don't you take your own advice before you post?

If someone insults someone else without cause and refuses to admit they did anything wrong, is it an attack on their character to point it out?

You have given me good reason for what I've said in this thread. You had no good reason for your "snide" comment and don't seem to think there was anything wrong with it.

I don't see that there's any point in dragging this out any longer, so I will now bow out.
