Just as the title suggests, I switched from the 6s to the 6P. I really really like the 6p but miss my Apple Watch. If you had an Apple Watch before you switched, have you found a worthy alternative? If so, what?

I had the S7 edge and still have 6s plus. With Apple watch and Gear S2. as good as the gear was i quickly missed my apple watch and valued what it does. Which will be better with os3 update coming up. When you have all apple kit like this it's tough to stay away.

Gear S2 or the S3 coming out, great watches.

I had a similar problem going from my 6s to my HTC 10. I went with a Moto 360 Sport I found on sale. It works well and I do like the always on screen but it isn't quite as good as the AW. I then moved to an iPhone SE so I have my AW back again since I decided not to sell it since it's resale would be pretty low. It's decently scratched up on the screen.

That being said, I do like the Moto 360 (2015) a lot along with the Sport and Android Wear will be getting an update soon to make it that much better. I didn't find myself using it a whole lot different than my AW. And the 6P is a great phone!

I have a Huawei Watch that I used when I switched over to my 6P (6S+ and Apple Watch are my daily drivers) and while the Huawei hardware is really attractive and well made, I found Android Wear lacking by comparison in some key areas of my usage. I've held onto it though as I'm curious to test drive the upcoming revision to Android Wear once it's released.

Outside of using watchOS 3, the only other area of smart watches that has caught my attention is the Gear S3 Frontier with LTE.

Main problems I have with the Apple Watch is that it fails at its main uses... A watch, that is supposed to be smart! If you have a blank screen on your wrist all the time (which fails to come on even when you bring your arm up on many occasions), how is that a good watch? If you are limited on what you can display on your smart watch, how is that smart? Lastly, the battery, even with the watch being off 90% of the time still sucks.

The Gear S2 fails in many of the same respects as the Apple Watch. Doesn't stay on all the time and even its ambient mode is 8 bit, so it looks like crap. Not sure if the Gear S3 will have an always on mode or not, but apparently they fixed the ambient mode with 16bit.

The Moto360 (2015 edition) Tag and Huawei watches are the only watches that actually meet the criteria of Smart and watch. Now it appears the Asus ZenWatch Round (2016 edition) will trump them all with the first chip designed specifically for Android wear smartwatches.

When you have nothing but a blank screen, how do you tell the time? Magic?
It's no different to any watch

How do you tell the time on a normal watch? You turn your wrist to look at your watch to see the time....it's no different to the Apple Watch where you do the same and the screen turns on.

I'm just not feeling any of the android watches, android wear or the gear S line. Some of them look lovely but they are lacking in app support or functionality. The Apple Watch seems to be the best overall smart watch. I love being able to make payments from my wrist. Samsung pay is not available in the UK so currently the only watch that allows me to make payments is the Apple Watch.

The AW I recently purchased has not FAILED with anything I have tried to do. If you cannot get the time to display then visit the Genius Bar first off to see why and proceed from there.

Now how accurate it is if you are using it for training purposesis a whole other issue though. Many have returned it it seems because it is not very good.

I already had the Huawai watch that I used with my iPhone, but just bought the S2 and with it having built in Samsung Pay, beautiful watch faces (hundreds) I don't miss my Apple Watch. Sold it 3 days ago. I love how it doesn't use Android Wear either.

Uh, the screen comes on when you lift it. Do you not know this?
Nope, it doesn't all the time. If you claim it does, you are lying. The gyro on the AW is the issue. How many times have you had to flick your wrist or hit the home button to get the screen to turn on?

With an Android Wear watch or a real watch, the screen is always on. The time is always displayed. There is no need to "hope" that the gyro will turn the watch display on.

Incorrect. The S2 does not have an always on screen. It has an ambient mode, where the display goes into 8 bit mode, but if you drop your arm down or rotate the watch past a certain number of degrees, the screen shuts off. Just like the Apple watch.

That is cool that you like using your watch to pay for stuff, but I personally found it awkward having to contort my arm and shoulder around to get the watch to line up with the sensor on the NFC / credit card payment machine. I did it once and called it a day.

Mine goes into a non full color mode but is on even when my arms are down, etc. My Huawai watch is the same, both watches have a ALWAYS ON setting.

Well, let's see

*performs complex calculations on blackboard for days*
*spend years assembling replica of Babbage's difference engine and weeks cranking the handle*
*pays for time share on mainframe and pegs every part of resource available for days on end*
*finally emerges into light, blinking but triumphantly holding the answer aloft*

none.

If you claim it does, you are lying.
A more sensitive poster might report you for baseless name calling but I personally think it's hilarious

[doublepost=1473012769][/doublepost]I know what you are saying, and what you are referring to is ambient mode (8 bit color), but the watch face will still shut off (even in this mode). Unlike the Apple watch, it turns back on extremely fast though and usually 9 out of 10 times (Apple watch is 50/50.)

The Gear S2 will shut your watch face down after a certain time period when not at a specific angle. I have mine set for 5 minutes (which I believe is the max).

The Huawei watch has true always on mode (as do all Android Wear Watches) and with full color mode too.

What I find hilarious is you somehow trying to justify an answer with what you do for a living. Shall I point you to the endless threads and posts (even on this very board) that points to a known gyro issue with the Apple Watch? Or can you manage to pull yourself away from your mainframe to do it yourself?

*beep boop* *error error sense of humour bypass*

I said nothing about what I do for a living. Please enlighten me on the "known gyro issue" with the Apple Watch with the knowledge that the plural of anecdote is not evidence.

PS I haven't touched a mainframe in almost 20 years

YEAH, you caught me lying. Mine came on EVERY single time I lifted my wrist to look at it. Every. Single. Time.

No no no. You're imagining it. There's a problem with the gyro you see. An unspecified problem. An unspecified problem he declined to back up in any way

Heard the name Pebble?! Buy one of their awesome high end (still cheaper than Apple Watch ) watches and pair with the 6P. Sky's your limit on what you can do with them.

I've heard the brightness on the pebble isn't great. Was that user error or is there an issue with the pebble time/time round in direct sunlight or average room light?
