Meh, give me plastic, give me something thin and light, not chunky or heavy. I'm not weak, I don't have noodle arms, I go to the gym and lift weights 4 days a week, but I still don't feel like lugging around a chunky heavy phone. It's probably an awesome phone, but I couldn't see adding it to the stuff I already have to lug around.

You seem impossible to reason with. Take the Apple-hating lenses off and be realistic. Thin and light phones are more comfortable to hold then thick and heavy phones.

Yeah, I'm sure you were saying that when all you had was the 4/4s.

You're not fooling anyone.

I wish the wait was over. I think I'll have to play with all three windows phones before choosing one. I'm glad the display is a beast though!

What I find funny is the reasons why the new iPhone is lighter than the old ones. They were aluminum coated in glass, and people ate that up. "It makes the phone feel higher quality, blah blah blah". Of course it also made them easy to break and added a goodly bit of weight, but mention that to certain people, and suddenly you're wearing "Apple-hating lenses"...not to paraphrase anyone or anything.

Now we've got an iPhone that isn't coated in glass, and...BAM! Suddenly everyone is raving about it's light weight and extra durability. "olol", they'd chortle, "look at the Galaxy S3 crack, cuz it's made out of super cheapo plastic". You mean like how the 4S would shatter like...well...glass from being dropped at half that height, but that was alright because people liked the way the smooth coating felt in their hands? "Apple devices feel high quality", they'd say, "just enjoy the way it feels, and don't drop your phone".

But now that...well...you get it. Some people will go out of their way to defend everything Apple does, up to and including contradicting themselves every chance they get.

Well said. Revisionist history at its finest. Oh well, Im a grown man, 180 grams isnt going to put me out of commission. Even my diehard Apple friends arent a fan of the 5, its affectionally just known as Longphone to us.

The iPhone 4/4S wasn't very thick or heavy but I was saying that...are you really that ignorant?

Too much hype for a phone only on 1 out of 4 major networks in the US, yes. :)

Reading the Verge's review, it sounds more like WP8 was overhyped moreso than this phone. This phone on Android or iOS I believe would be considered a top phone across most any tech sites. The lack of apps on WP8 along with several things I'm not liking such as not so great google integration (gmail), and no true notification center (live tiles sure, but not for everything) kind of hurt WP8 for me. And I was really interested in the 920 and 8x.

The 920 is not desirable enough to be an exclusive and the delays have been crazy. I really fear for Nokia and don't think this bond issue will help them. I can see MS going their own way very soon.

The exclusivity part really is a stupid move, ATT must be spending a lot of money on marketing to make that deal work. Definitely a nice phone, I like mine bigger anyway, but they are hurting themselves by not exposing it to as many people as possible. Still wont stop me from getting one...although now the new Nexus phone is looking pretty good as well. 8X just doesnt have enough storage or else I would get it, 32 is the minimum for me. Now if only I can remember the windows live id i created for my focus so I get that grandfathered 25 gbs of skydrive storage...

I'm actually not a huge fan of how thin the iPhone 5 is, it's perfectly fine, but it's getting quite close to being in uncomfortable territory. I'd be fine with the weight and bulk of the 920. That's why, for example, game controllers aren't made super thin. You have to have some thickness for a device to be comfortable to hold. That being said, reducing thickness does make some devices more comfortable- e.g. first generation PSP vs 2nd/2rd gen PSP.
