But if you want the ultimate low light smartphone camera, wait for the Nokia EOS. Same tech as in the 808 Pureview - 41 Megapixels and all

Nokia has an agreement w/ MS, at least for the time being, to only release Win Phone 8 handsets

While I'm not a fan of the look, it is nice to see something that isn't a "me-too" in terms of design.

I think a few of you are missing is that this phone isn't really a successor to the 920. It's just some tweaks done for VZW. I personally think the 928 went in a better direction. I wish more companies took Apple's stance of "take it or leave it" though, rather than custom building handsets for each and every telco...

I still have my 920 just to see if MS bothers doing anything with WP8 anytime soon, but I'm using a S4 right now and really loving it. I think the hardware, design, camera, and screen on the 920 are second to none though. I wish the 920 ran Android and I'd be in heaven.

There are really only two OEMs with that type of klout/power....

Apple and Samsung. Hence why you see the same phones (iPhone line, Galaxy S3/4) across all carriers.

Even HTC isn't there yet.....no HTC One for VZW.....

Samsung doesn't really even have the clout either. All of their phone updates are still subject to carrier approval, AFAIK. Also, carrier branding. Apple is the only manufacturer who sells handsets to multiple carriers, without branding, and without really any carrier input/bloat.

Change VZW to TMobile and yeah. I think Id buy the 928 over the 925 actually

True enough. Though I'd guess a lot of that has to do with Android and how skins are applied. It wouldn't surprise me to see Samsung release Tizen and try to take full control over those devices to start with.

Even Google got sick of Verizon strong arming them with their Galaxy Nexus. It was supposed to be an "all Google experience" but it really wasn't, namely with updates. I honestly have no idea of the details behind getting your device sold and supported by a carrier, but I would think Android is a proven enough entity for Google to get what they want by now, IF they really want it. Instead, they seem to have decided to just sell their "all Google" devices unsubsidized through their own store. And since Verizon is stupid about what handsets they allow on their network, no love for verizon fans.

Or, I could be totally wrong about everything. I am just a tech fan babbling, after all.
