I got an 11” M1 512GB for $300 discount.
Then a $20 glass protector for my 2020 11” and it solved two tiny cracks.

So in my supply closet the M1 sits…

Refurb market is another option. A few days ago Amazon had the M1 12.9 512GB cellular for $985 and the 1TB cellular for $1059. I grabbed one...all good so far.
I ordered the exact same one and it’s down to $899. It’s being sold by BUY SPRY..You may be able to return and rebuy to get the lower price. I have not received it yet so have no idea on its condition but it was advertised as Excellent.

I just got the M1 11 inch 256 cellular from Buyspry on Amazon and it looks brand new -no marks or anything that I see on the body and the screen is perfect. It came with a generic charger and cord.

That’s fantastic! It appears that this seller is pretty legitimate based on some of the reviews I have been reading and is the go to vendor when it comes to refurbished Apple products.

That’s solid! I opted for the 1TB; it’s still showing the same price, but $899 for the 512GB is awesome.

My unit had a couple light scratches on the screen, but they’re unnoticeable with a screen protector on it. Hope yours ends up being flawless. Enjoy!

Everyone seems to be recommending buying the M1 iPad Pro for $200 off at Amazon instead of paying full price for the M2 iPad Pro. I get the desire to not spend for something you don't need but is it really that advantageous?
I suspect that the M2 iPad Pro can be had for $100 off by Thanksgiving Black Friday sale. Combine that with the probable higher resale/trade-in value of the M2 vs the M1 and that $200 advantage disappears. I would bet you would get $80-$100 more for an M2 than an M1 come 2024 when we all want to upgrade to M3/OLED/new design.

I have the 2018 12.9" iPP and while I am not planning on upgrading, I'm also not looking forward to another 18 months with an iPad that is already sitting at 689 battery cycles. If the M2 Pro gets discounted early, I would consider purchasing. If the M1 Pro goes even lower than $200 off, I would also consider.
Best Buy has $300 off M1 iPad Pro 12.9 inch today.
any sense if the extra weight would affect your decision?

Glad yours worked out well! I’m sorry but I should’ve clarified that the $899 price was for the 512 GB model. They have since raised it by another $30 to $929 as of this morning.

I'm really tempted to get on board with either one of these options. Going to decide this weekend. I'm looking for a replacement for my good old Air2 and I think the M1 12.9 would do nicely!

these types of questions are always really hard without knowing the value of the money (here, $200) to the user. Obviously, we'd all like to spend less and get more, but saving $200 is going to be a really big deal to some shoppers (maybe the difference between being able to make or not make the purchase) and just kind of "oh, that's nice" to others.

All of that said, the difference between the M1 and M2 chips is not going to be noticeable to all but the most demanding of iPad users. I'm not sure what workflow would really show that difference, but it's certainly not a typical one. The pencil hover thing seems, to me, to be a total gimmick. Like, sure... I guess? But we're talking changes at the absolute margins here.

In day to day use, the two devices are going to be completely indistinguishable.

But it's the 12.9". Do you really want to carry a TV around with you? Get the 11". It's also on sale.

I got my refurbed 12.9 inch M1 iPP w/ 512 Gb and Cellular from BuySPRY via Amazon and it's perfect! It came in a brown box with a generic USB-C and 20 watt charger but was extremely well packed. I plugged my iPad into my M1 14" MBP and used Coconut Battery to check out the battery status and discover mine had 17 cycles. Battery Health was between 98.3% to 100% depending on state of charge. Screen appears to be great so far with no dead pixels. The batter was manufactured back in 8/2021 and the device was likely purchased a month or 2 after that. I checked the warrantee status of the iPad and it is no longer covered so it is over a year old.

I'm thrilled that I got a 40% discount paying only $899 + Tax vs $1499 + Tax at full retail. The funniest thing was that I was about to pull the trigger on a new 128 Gb Wifi Only from Best Buy for $799 just hours before I considered buying refurb. For $100 more, I got 4x the internal storage and Cellular to open up more options down the line. BuySPRY has since raised the price to $929 and it looks like a few folks have made their purchase as well. There were 20 left after I bought mine on Sunday and there are 12 left as I type this reply. Grab them while they're cheap and available folks!

Bought from the same seller, albeit the 128 GB cellular version. Looks and works like brand new! 30 charge cycles and 100% battery health. Zero issues!

How good is the amazon extended warranty? That would be my biggest fear to be honest, the iPads Pros even on sale are still pricy and for peace of mind I prefer AppleCare. If the Amazon warranties are pretty good then that's another option to consider. Just asking because I have no experience with them.

I didn’t pick up an extended warranty for mine but you do get a 90 day return option included. I did get an option to purchase one at checkout and it looks decent.

I bought three iPads through them and they were very clean and incredible deals. If you go high spec you’re getting a 50% discount off retail … I went for the 1TB and 2TB cellular versions to get the extra RAM.

Glad to hear you had a great experience from them also! I also wanted to get the 1 TB model for the 16 Gb of RAM but the price jump was too much from the 512 GB ($899 —> $1400). The delta was just too great and I couldn’t justify the cost. But yeah, I almost got the IPP for almost half price considering mine was $1599 at full MSRP.

I actually also picked up a refurbished Apple Magic Keyboard also off Amazon from A4C and it was LIKE NEW! It even came in the OEM Apple package and had zero evidence that it was even used whatsoever. I lucked out and paid $179 which was essentially almost 50% off from the $349 MSRP.

It depends on the seller, so the prices are changing all the time … the 2TB cellular was 1129 at the time so that’s a huge difference.
