I've had the M2 Air 13" version since it came out, and the screen has been perfect for me. I'm surprised to read a few people on this thread had eye strain.
'm getting very close to abandoning my Mac ecosystem obsession since 1992! The last two out of the three products that I bought one phone overheated and bent and my new MacBook Air, I say relatively new, it's two years old has had a camera failure after an upgrade having only used it for maybe 10 hours! That I'm told is a hardware failure and now recently my screen is having major issues with horizontal lines and flickering absolutely unacceptable for $1000 computer in my opinion! My last MacBook Air lasted almost 8 years. I am getting very concerned about paying high prices for equipment that doesn't last now.

Wow. You seem to be living under a storm cloud. I have owned or managed dozens of Apple products and I have not experienced anything like you describe. Ever.

Just an LCD, as far as I'm aware. It's still nice and crisp though.
LCD displays last longer than OLED panels. In decades to come those OLED panels on vintage Mac’s are going to either look terrible or not function. So for collectors and longevity LCD is the way to go.

Yeah, I totally get you. It’s unacceptable. That’s one of the reasons why I outright opted for a Mac mini: a simpler device with less failure likelihood.

Me too for the most part since 1992. And great customer service. But, the 15.1 upgrade ruined my camera as did thousand of others if I am to understand correctly. And as I mentioned the last 2015 Air lasted 8 years. My son installed Linux when it crashed, a new battery and is off and running.
The last upgrade to my 2023 Air, within hours screen "went South" on me. I am gun shy now. Take it in the hindparts on these last two out of three. My Iphone 14 is humming right along. But, if it fails, I am going to an Honor for $200 bucks and see how that works. The one I bought in China while teaching up there is incredible for the price. But, that is a whole another story. Looking at a Lenova 2 in 1 for half the price of my Air.
