Is the massive difference due to the extra TB or the faster processor or both?

From the Mac Mini tests it is from the Pro chip having double the bandwidth. The NAND configuration needs to fully utilize that though, but iirc the Pro chips starts at 512 so all Pro models should have the higher speed.

It is not due to the SoC, but the number of NAND pads available on the logic board.

3000 ish MB/s is M4 best case scenario with dual NAND pads (this has been confirmed by the M4 mini teardown)

The base SoC never supported the same number of NANDs as the Pro/Max chip. You can only use two with base where you can use 4 for pro and max

I see. So the number of NAND pads on the board actually corresponds to the SoC used. That makes total sense.

That'll do, pig. (M4 Max, 8TB, 5GB test)
