This was the reason i said GoodBye to Parallels long Time ago and used UTM which is free if you do not buy it from the Store but could help developing if and runs perfect, almostAlso my experience. I think I would have used a different term than "sneaky". "Greedy %&*()()*" would be more appropriate. They would have had access to early releases of the M4 and I suspect the company knew it would disable all VM's not using version 20.
My version 19 would not open any of the VM's. I had to upgrade to version 20 to get the VM's to open. I don't buy the subscription and instead get the one time purchase. I now have three versions, 18, 19 and 20 and only one of them work on the M4.
I use it for one old VB6 Proggy with ODBC to MariaDB.
It runs, as diverse Ubuntu ARM Vm´s, even with DMZ and bridged Network on WLAN as FQDN Host with Let´s Encrypt Certificate.
Only my Windows 11 Pro ARM 24H2 now after upgrading to 24H2 has no Display Out on Desktop with 3D Grafic Driver anymore. But PCI works and i use it with Remote Desktop anyway.
I mean, there is my MBA M2 Fanless sitting on my Desktop in Clamshell mode where the UTM VM with a FQDN via my WLAN is the Base for a Developer 12.000 km away and that works, not somehow but snappy fast.
And the MBA M2 is booted from an external Acasis TB3/4 TBU405 Air Case with WD SN770 2TB NVME at the same speed as the internal.
This is amazing stuff. I am Gene X and remember the Dial Phone Acoustic Coupler 300-2400 baud internet without www from cern just a terminal.
