Seems you are mistaken:
AHT - Apple Hardware Test - is the one that Apple sends with the original installer disks for end user hardware tests. If you have it on CD/DVD, it's AHT.
ASD - Apple Service Diagnostics - is an Apple internal tool and is not legally available outside Apple and AAPLs.
Anyway, this thread have enough info already for you to search it.
Thanks again!
I was mistaken initially (after reading a ton of material in one go) by calling my included CDs ASD, and asking how to get the AHT, which you directed me to that post #9 on a link that answered that. But then I decided to use the cd first and realized it was AHT.
And again, you are right, I was mistaken from reading a lot, where I got that ASD came after the 5,1 machines, which I thought was to replace AHT. But what I understand from what you tell me now is that ASD is for Apple internal use and not for the consumer. Good to know.
So far, I had to buy a new old mac 5,1 mid 2010 so I could go on working, but I am troubleshooting the one that "died" and figured out it was the power supply (I installed the one from my new 5,1 to test it). I ran the AHT extended test and it saw no issues. The old power supply I installed it in my new 5,1 to confirm that it does not work.
I just have to figure out what I can do to get my old machine running. I will of course buy another power supply, but I want to read as much as I can to try and get it to work before I post for help. 48 hours now without sleep... gotta love these macs.
Thanks again.
