I placed the order for a refurbish 27in Mac. I'm so excited. I have another question; My computer will be in my room and there's no hard connection to the internet so I'll be using wifi. Would I need like a Airport for my computer?

My opinion is that for a desktop, WIRED ethernet is ALWAYS better if you can use it.
Is there any way to string ethernet to where the iMac will be?

If you need to buy a wifi router, I consider the Apple Airport Extreme a good buy, simply because of the ease of setup.

Be aware that you can get these as "Apple-refurbished" units for about $129 from the refurbished section of the Apple store.

Tell us about the current ISP service in your house...

Well, the thing is I moved in with my sister and brother-in-law for school and I'm in a room with just a cable line and I have my Apple TV connected to the small cable box (no ethernet connection, just usb, HDMI). I haven't really looked in the back because there's lots of wires but for the most part I believe theres no ethernet set up in the room. They have AT&T provider and I guess its fine.

The cable line running to your Apple tv won't do any good.

You need to ascertain who is providing the internet and what kind of service it is.
Is it "straight DSL"?
Is it ATT Uverse?

If it's Uverse, I'm going to guess that they have an ATT "residential gateway" located somewhere in the house.

If so they probably have wireless set up to run from it.
Can you connect to that?

I'm wondering if you could locate the residential gateway, and then...
...snake an ethernet cable along with the cable line from the gateway to your room?

I believe its DSL because they don't have U verse. I guess I will have to live with wireless but eventually I'll move. Right now, the Mac is setting up. I can't wait to play with it.
