This is looking quite likely, especially when you analyse the Leopard marketing campaign. All the talk about universe (Expand your universe) is pointing clues in that direction.

People probably immediately think this is just attributed to Time Machine. But, if you work in these Google/.Mac rumours then the expanding of your universe could easily mean accessing your data wherever whenever. All data being synced between iPhone and Leopard.

Also "rocket fuel for your apps" could also mean access your applications/data wherever. Rockets gets to any destination fast, so can your data.

It makes total sense!

if punkwaffle is all that, why is he telling us?...only those who need to know would know...and those who accidently found out would blab everything they know....punk was trying to sound cool and mysterious in the opening post

but then again...it does answer alot of questions like 'why is .mac such a ripoff?'

hopes sj makes it free on the 11th

I wish I could believe you Punkwaffle and I hope you are right. I always thought/believed that the iPhone will be more than an iPod/Phone/Browser.

I'm really looking forward to see what's going to happen tomorrow at WWDC. Hopefully I'm not going to be too disappointed.

The clock is ticking.

Last thing I'll say before WWDC. Jobs has recently said that he envisions future portable devices to focus not only on displaying your stuff, but also having the ability to edit your stuff, be they pix, docs, or spreadsheet.

The key word there is "edit." Anyone think that someone will write a novel on an iPhone? Kinda sorta doubt it, but who knows. Put really good voice to text into it and I might just sit in the park and dictate all day.

Talking about Al Gore and Apple and Google having a 'Giddy' relationship.

Who's on the board of Apple and Google?? Al of course.

I'm expecting some sort of Co2 emmisions calculator applet too..

The web based thing does make a lot of sense-even if its not true what a great idea.

whatever they do i sure hope that apple isn't gonna let google take over dot mac. i'd hate to see google screen all my mail on dot mac and spam me with adwords.

i just extended dot mac for another two yrs. all these talk is making me excited and worried at the same time.

Trust me when I tell yall. If you don't believe it, you will on the 11th.

.mac is significantly improved and has some special features: syncing contacts, bookmarks, etc (duh), but also an entire office suite online thanks to google, a portable desktop much like that of eyeos.com but completely mac-ed out. expect steve to answer all those whiners complaining the iPhone is not a true business device. I've seen pix of the new .mac on iphone- truly groundbreaking and can't believe others haven't put all these online advancements together so simply before.

oh yeah. next gen iphones will have gps built in.

Sooo, how are those guarantees working out for ya?
Back to my Mac is looking pretty good, but I don't think it's a portable desktop. File retrieval is nice, don't get me wrong.

As to an entire online office suite....

Just seen this topic.

For me this is one of the features I am really looking forward to (if the rumour turns out to be true)

I have played with Google docs (after someone at work raved about them) but can't see much use for them on my desk top which has Microsoft Word installed.

BUT if I had an iphone and wanted to work on something say at Macdonalds then this makes complete sense. The idea of these remote, dumb terminals suits phones and pda's far more than home/office PC's as they don;t need to waste all their memory holding MS Office-It's far too valuable for that as I want to store all my songs on it!
