Actually, other than separating the keyboard into one half for each hand (something that a lot of ergonomic keyboards do), the only significant difference with the Kinesis is putting a few buttons under each thumb (space, backspace, enter). The rest of the keys are still in the standard QWERTY layout. So, it's kinda surprisingly easy to get used to. (You've gotta be able to touch-type to take advantage of it, though...)
