"Poop". Never fails to get a laugh... at an 8-year old's birthday party.

From both ends, it would seem...

... ah. I see you had a change of heart. Probably wise.

What's curious is that you seemed to forget how old you were. Has it been a long day?

Good for you. I think you can tell a lot about a man from his chosen profession.

Yeah. When I'm not practising medicine, I Beta-test media streamers and argue with douche-bags on internet forums. Everything in moderation.

EDIT: And a man of your age has no place using the expression, "Its all gravy baby!". With or without punctuation.

Which reminds me... how old were you, again? You can change your mind for a second time, if you like. I won't tell anyone.

Well, if the firmware's crap then people are right not to like it. I wouldn't blame them.

It sounds like your media is nothing too challenging. Almost anything should run it. Pick something cheap and stable. No need for a second Mini, or anything so expensive. Is the HDX-1000 still available where you are? That was, effectively, a PCH A-110 with better sockets. Very basic UI, but otherwise perfect for your needs, I'd say.

Be mindful of devices with restrictive codec support. Always check supported codecs, when looking at streamers. Assume nothing.

Word up

If it aint Mac its Cack

I agree with Aegelward, for those feeling a little bit brave with the right choice of components self build:
Hackintosh/ Ubuntu
Liquid cooling
i3
SSD
Bluray
8GB
Esata port

Could be good very good.....But it wont be the cheapest

Drop the SSD (you don't really need it for a HTPC IMO) and half the RAM, depending on your choice of chassis it could cost roughly the same as a stock mini, perhaps a little less, perhaps a little more.

Personally i'm torn, the mini is a 'proven' solution, but i can get 'more' if i self build.

So anyway... after wading through your "chat"

You think me getting the mac mini would work well for what i want Terminal? 4 or 8GB?

I looked at the imac's but running a HDMI cable isnt doable plus im not overly fussed about it... I can get a mini for £400... that works for me!

Plus what is all this giga switch, cat 5 stuff your on about?

And i do have a ps3 and have tried using the media streaming but it wasnt for me... gaming is all i want it for!

Get it

@Aegelward Im tempted since i have no cases to buy a Coolermaster Haf 932 then do a build n nail it down so Iv got plenty of room to work in n then find a case to fit, I do like the look of the Zalman 501... Use the coolermaster then for a raid file server or other projects

Neo, I think some pics n a video of my set up might help.
Look bottom line £400 and if its £400 uve taken into account all US sales taxes n exchange rates, its worth a whirl......IF it isnt Ebay it. Ur hardly going to lose much if anything.

Ram, well price it up UK 8GB kit is £150 roughly if its favorable in the US then yes Id go 8GB all the way. Then u know apart from a SSD uve done all you can perfomance wise..... But Iv got 4GB, virtually uses it all mind...

Have a look at the pics n video that are coming
