Thank you ActionableMango for your answer. Is this (https://github.com/Floris497/mac-pixel-clock-patch-V2) what you are referring to?
It says that this patch resolves resolution on older macs. But can't see anything about refresh rate. Do you think it is implied?

Yes, that patch removes artificial pixel clock limitations from MacOS. Removing that limitation opens up the possibility for higher resolutions and/or refresh rate, assuming the hardware can support it.

Keep in mind that I said "might" work--even with the OS pixel clock limit removed, there's still a hardware pixel clock limit and I don't know what the HD4000 pixel clock limit is.

And yes, it uses the Mac's mini Display port. If I were using the HDMI port the monitor would be running at a lower resolution.

Have you got a link to the sort of cable I would need to use please?

My monitor got these ports

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but I can’t find a clear answer, will the Mac mini 2014 hdmi support 1440p at 60hz? Or do I need to use display cable, and does the display cable carry audio like the hdmi?

The Apple tech specs for the 2014 Mini are unclear on using 2560x1440. On my 2.6GHz 2014 Mini, I run 2560x1440 @60Hz via HDMI without a problem. The 1.4Ghz model has a different iGPU so I can't confirm first-hand but it should also be able to do 2560x1440 @60Hz and others have confirmed this. Audio via DisplayPort is supported in the 2014 Mini.
