Oh really? So i could put the full 4gb but only get 3.3gb used out of it? Well that would be fine with me! Yes i read that apple doesnt recommened a 1gb and 2gb stick because they want you to stay dual channel to be used with your vid card anyways thanks for that great info! I will not be going 4gb for sure!

Did you purchase yours from OWC? Or if not how much and where?

FYI - this is only true for newer minis. The issue is that the mainboard controller can only physically access 3.3G. HOWEVER if the mini is the older Core Solo or original Core Duo there is a firmware limitation of 2G.

If you want more then 2G, you will need a Core 2 Duo machine.

As I recent switcher to Macs, I went for the Mac Mini, I can re-assure you its well worth it, I would say its the most amazing starter mac.

The mac mini is silent, literally, the loudest it gets is when you put a disk in, the odd "Vrrm" and thats with a disk. Apart from that, silent!

I would go for the 1.83 (i think it was) you were going to get. Although many say "Dont get 1.83, it wont stand", its perfect, I do heavy image editing and its very very snappy :)

The only downside is 80gb is a bit of a ballbuster, I guess thats the only problem, but I have and EXTHDD for that.

Overall, The mac mini is a powerful lil machine!

1.86 is great so long as you don't need a DVD burner. This is expensive update if done after the fact. I went for the 2.0 for this reason.

As for the disk space. You can get a 500G Firewire 400 drive for ~$150. As a bonus, if you install the OS to this drive you get a nice performance boost.

Well i already went ahead and ordered the 2.0ghz Core 2 Duo mini! so it can handle the 3.3gb and ITS COMING TOMORROW!!!!! :) IM sooo excited!
