Scrolling a large Word doc

But still a lot faster than your beige G4. ;)

It will be faster, but not that much, because I don't expect that a Mac Mini scrolls as fast as an Imac, which has a much better graphics card.

Perhaps: scrolling in a 500 pages word doc :
2 min on an Imac Intel
2.5 min on a Mac mini (slower processor, slower disk and slower graphics card) ??? (I guess) and 3 min on a Core Solo
5 min on my G4 Beige.

However, when the Universal version of Word comes out, it will be twice as fast.
I am happy that many Mac Mini users are still statisfied over the Office performance.

I would go Core Duo as well.

I have a Dual Core 2.3 Ghz Power Mac G5 that I bought last year when they first came out. I also just bought one of the Dual Core Mac Mini's to use as a HTPC. The Intel Mac Mini can EASILY keep up with the G5 when ripping a DVD to MPEG4 using Handbrake. The G5 cost me $2300. The Intel Mac Mini cost me $800. Yea I know the G5 has more hard drive space, a faster bus etc but the Mini is an incredible machine for the $$$$

Wow, that's really impressive. So a Mac Mini 2 x 1.66 is faster than my older Dual G5 2 x 1.8 for converting DVD to mpeg4?

(I just visited a shop where they sell Mac mini's and I was surprised how fast even a Dual Core Mini with only 512 MB performed for basic and universal applications. I didn't have the time to check out Word thoroughly, I have noticed that it starts up faster than on my older G4 beige, but not as fast as on my G5 because it's under Rosetta emulation.)

Should be without a doubt. I forgot to mention I also added 2GB of RAM which helps somewhat probably.
