I upgraded my Mac mini 2014 1.4 GHz from 4 GB (K4E8E304EE-EGCE) to 16 GB RAM (K4EBE304EB-EGCF). While adjusting resistor 1 from the GND (L) to the VCC (H) pads, I accidentally lost it. For reference, I marked the resistor I lost in green. Surprisingly, after booting the Mac mini, it still reported 16 GB, instead of 4 GB before.
Assumably the resistor to VCC should act as a pull-up, but even missing it, the upgrade works. It is probably still wise to replace it, but just a heads-up in case anyone else runs into this!
