I use a mid 2009 Mac Mini Server as mediacenter, with Plex 8, controlled by my logitech Harmony.
That system is also my file server, download center (transmission (torrent)/sabnzbd) and backup for my MacBook Pro (timemachine)

Couldn't be happier, works nicely, also with big bd rips.

Only thing missing for me is good integration for tv recording, here at the netherlands i have UPC, and recording is only analog possible, biggest problem with eye tv is the epg, wich keeps me from throwing my microsoft medacenter away.

Hey I just recently set up a Plex mini HTPC setup and I'm loving it. I live with two roommates and I've got Plex indexing all their shares over the network too.

The problem I'm having with Plex is tho that I can't seem to find a way to tell it to use an external subtitles folder. Now this would make it easier for us since we prefer to have them in a separate folder instead of just hanging around with the video files. I tried XBMC too and it had an option like that, but I just prefer Plex over it in all other aspects and would like to continue using it instead.

I'm posting on this thread instead of making a new one since there seems to be people following this thread who might know about this stuff.

Few months ago I found a pretty damn good Late 2009 Mini on ebay. Planning on using it as a HTPC once i get a macbook for school. Look around on Craigs or eBay for a decent deal on a used one, or just take the plunged for the new mini which IMO is not a bad deal.
