Ordered a MacBook Pro 13” Mid-2012 from Macofalltrades on 05/27/18. 1) Unit ARRIVED on 06/01/18 with a defective LCD screen. Bright white spot in the center from the moment I powered it on. 2) The next day, before they even responded to my support ticket, the hard drive crashed.

If you do not buy the extended warranty, they will send you a broken laptop and charge you to send it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STAY AWAY!!!!

... luckily I paid with PayPal. Because I didn’t trust these scammers from the start. Forced to open a dispute.

Love the way you elaborate! Since day one you did not trust these scammers, lol

FWIW, my experience with MacofAllTrades has been nothing but positive. I have purchased three desktops over the years from them - a G4 MDD some years ago and two different Mac Mini models more recently. All units came as advertised and with no issues.

I agree with other posters who recommend the Apple Store for certified refurbished units, and I do that myself when what I want is available via that outlet. However, these were all older machines at the time of purchase where competing options were down to what could be found on eBay. That's where MoAT's 90-day warranty and return policy won me over.

Has anyone ordered from Mac of all trades? are they legit? etc... thanks

I have been doing business with Mac of all Trades now for almost 2 years. They don't come any more honest then these guys. Service is their middle name. Professional, caring, interested and they just plaln go out of their way for you. I not only stand behind them, I stand with them, they are the best in my books.
Have a great day!
PS no one asked me to do this.

Nah, they all were just very professional and helped me and didn't charge me. I went to their office and they were all just plain nice and accommodating. I used to work for an Apple Var and value good service.

Purchased 5 different machines from them over the last 2 years. All looked and ran like new. Wife and I consider MOAT the top vendor for our referbs.

Avoid eBay and Mac of All Trades. The best place to buy used is from Apple themselves at their on line refurbished store. Everything they sell comes with a full one year warranty and Apple Care can be added. You can usually save around 15% by shopping there.
Huh? I don't consider the refurbished store used. As far as I'm concerned they are the same as new.

Yes, we have. It was a terrible experience.

They lie. Our mac air got screen issue after 2 months. They sent back saying it was liquid damage. Completely fraud company if something happens, they will not support. DO NOT BUY!

Possible water damage from a spill on the keyboard? Please keep us posted.
Not surprised.

Don’t waste your time. The little money u save is not worth the risk & waste of time. I bought a 2013 MacBook Pro a year ago: battery dead 3 months ago & lost the entire mac today. Buy refurbished Apple!!!!

I just ordered a 2014 MBP from them, I'll let you all know what I think. It comes in tomorrow. I've read nothing but good reviews about this company so I'm guessing the minority of people here are jumping on the hate anything but official Apple refurb band wagon, are irresponsible, or are being honest and did have a crap experience.

Will update tomorrow evening with a review of my unpacked unit, will follow up later if people care to ask.

UPDATE:
This unit is in pristine condition and runs great. It is like new (I never buy a used computer this expensive unless it is A grade). I'll upload pictures this weekend, still getting everything set up.

I wish I did research on SSD upgrades before I chose the 256GB model, I just ordered an OEM 512GB SSD so I don't have to deal with the hassle of no hibernation, etc.

I know this is a really old post, but I thought I would share my two cents regarding my experience with with. I ordered an "very good condition" macbook pro. I received it and it was in poor condition. Keyboard keys were sticky like something spilled on it, I open up inside and see clear indication of liquid damage. Corrosion on the board, sticky residue over parts of the logic board and the right fan. The exhaust grille was blocked up by the sticky liquid reside that is now a solid. They created a return and we'll see how long it takes. Very unfortunate. Also the inside was caked with dust, this must have been a fluke I hope, but a very bad first impression.

Looks like I dodged a bullet! Last week I put in an order for a refurbished 5th Gen IPad with MOAT. The transaction was declined, so I figured my bank hadn't updated my linked card that I had just cleared. My purchase remained in Mac of All Trades shopping cart, and I sent them an email saying that I'd re-order in a day or two when I figured out what was happening.

No response.

I called my bank, the card was fine, tried to reorder 2 days later and was rejected again with no reason or reply. Luckily (and what I should have done first) I saw that Apple's refurbished iPads were available, and I received mine over the weekend and couldn't be happier.

I get that businesses are suffering / undergoing major changes, but a reply would have been nice, or at least businesslike, as I did say I wanted to order from them.

Consider yourself very lucky they did not reply so you could place order. Your experience with Mac Of All Trades could have been a lot worse.

Despite my so-so experience with Mac of All Trades three years ago, I sold my 2014 iMac 27 to them when I got a 2020 iMac 27. Based on my eyeballing of the condition of the machine, they gave me an estimate of $945. I figured, based on the last go-round, that I'd be lucky to get half that, but I figured that was OK, and I really didn't want to bother with in-person sales via Craig's List, given the pandemic. I bought a 27-inch iMac shipping box from Other Word Computing ($80 with tax and shipping) to avoid the pile of corrugated cardboard tatters Mac of All Trades sent me last time. Included the wireless keyboard from my in-between, 2017 iMac (complete with the "A" key with the ink worn off) and the original mouse (the original Magic Mouse, with the removable batteries). Brought the box with the pre-paid shipping label to the local UPS Store on October 13, received word they'd received it on the 15th, and on the 19th, an e-mail stating that everything was as I'd represented it, and could expect a check in one to three weeks (I'd chosen check as my method of payment). The check arrived today, the 24th. Assuming the check clears through my bank, I'd call it an optimal experience.

i will say they took a long time to reply so I could return the water damaged laptop they sent me.

So here's the story, If you are a business and depend on your computer and live outside Florida, I would say DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! New Factory sealed does not mean brand new either...All though seems like good pricing, does not end up being worth it. They only ship basic shipping and do not work with you or bend at all!! THE TRUTH IS BUY LOCAL OR THROUGH APPLE. If you count on your computer and do not have back up computer to use the 2 weeks it will be gone. Don't do it. YOU WILL JUST END UP SPENDING THE MONEY YOU MAY HAVE SAVED TO GET SOMEONE LOCAL TO FIX IT. Due to the fact you need it back sooner then later.

I've worked with Macofalltrades. Buy and selling I've never had a problem with them.

On 8/30/2020 I purchased a computer for my 73 year old father from Mac of All Trades. This is how Mac of All Trades advertised the computer:

Apple iMac Retina 4K 21.5-inch 3.0GHz Quad-core i5 (Mid 2017) MNE02LL/A 1 - Excellent Condition

(Bundle & Save: Work From Home Kit: Magic Mouse 2, Magic Keyboard ($129), Platinum Coverage: 2-Year Platinum Coverage ($99))

$1,227.00 USD

Sales Tax: $122.71 USD

Grand Total: $1,349.71 USD

The computer only worked for a few months. I returned it under warranty for repair. They sent it back and it broke immediately. I contacted them and asked for a refund and they refused. All I want is a refund, even if they will only give me most of the money back. I just want to buy my dad a computer from Apple so that it will work. He is old and this has been extremely frustrating for him. And I am too busy working and raising a baby to deal with these scam artists. A $1400 computer should be in excellent condition just like they promised.

They sold my brother a *supposedly* refurbished 2017 iMac. He gave me the Mac as a gift. I’m guessing it had spyware on it, because I witnessed phantom keyboard clicks & mouse moves, only 10 minutes after turning it on. The passwords would of course constantly change. My iCloud password changes the most. I must have called Apple 40 times in the past 3 months.

Also when I went to install a VPN, I encountered two previously installed VPNs. I’ve read that hackers will install 2 VPNs on a system. So contacted the warranty about this and the other problems, and they claimed it wasn’t possible, because the Mac had been reset. It obviously wasn’t. So much for having a warranty.

Stay away from Mac Of Trades.
