I think the worst part is that my "instant-on" which used to be slower than my 2006 MBP, now takes between 5-10 seconds before the mouse responds.

I'll probably take it to an Apple store once I back it up, it's a real pain.

Didn't do a clean install but so far ML runs better than SL and L combined. Far better computing experience and the perfect balance of iCloud integration and iOS influence. VERY happy with it.

yes, also that you're moving on when. so...moving on to what?

Whatever I deem to be a suitable replacement at the time, hard to say. Most likely Windows. I can live with it. At the very worst, I know MS will support it well after the ink is dry on the installation CD (unlike Apple did with SL).

We'll see what the final Win8 brings. (A bag of hurt for some).

Maybe Microsoft is rolling out XP as Win8. Its their only hope.

my only thought is this: no matter what OS you run, there will undoubtedly be things you like, and things you don't like. if you can get your WORK done on os x...what's the true difference? that apple will be upset you left?

it's the WORK that matters most; the OS is mostly just there to support the work (and, sadly, too much designed for distraction). all i want is fast, stable.
and i'm getting that in ML.

my humble 2 cents...

Fair enough.

My workflow in Lion/ML has been greatly effected by the poor implementation of window management in Mission Control compared to SL. Won't go into that now. (It's been done ad-nauseum).

On the non-work side... I miss Front Row.

Dont know about you, but I have some graphic issues when I installed ML in Safari.
Hope they will fix it with new drivers.
OS is ok, nothing revolutianary but its quicker and stable then Lion, so I am happy with it.

I'm loving ML so far. Much better than Lion IMO.

I am very happy for you. I wish my ML experience was good.

It just seems like too many things that I use regularly have changed for the worse. I am sure Apple will fix it, and in a couple of months I will be the happiest camper in the neighborhood again. Right now, I am not thrilled, or impressed with the update.
