The short article is pretty vague but what the heck...it's a rumor. I hope Apple has HUGE plans for 10.3!!

If its that radically different from anything before wont they have to call the release something other than 10.something?

So the OS setup will ask for your name and credit card info and you won't even have to worry about spending your money. It is all taken care of for you...the new Apple UI guidelines are filed under: milk 'em.

If this is true, and Panther is like nothing I have ever seen (and totally amazing), then I will have no problem shelling out my $129 (actually, it'll just be $69 since I'm a student

At University of Iowa, where I went last fall, they had a deal that let students get Jaguar for under $20. Of course, I had to wait an extra month and a half because they couldn't keep it in stock but, when you're a poor student, money is worth more than time.

I thought Amazon claimed to have exclusive rights to one-click ordering and was taking legal action against companies who dared let you click to order something. Maybe Apple licensed it. Or maybe Amazon came to their senses.

But seriously, why does shopping have to be part of the OS? Won't people get scared when they hear this? "Oh, oh... I clicked on something... now it says: shipping to you in 10 days...". "I thought I clicked on a BMW demo-movie, oops"

i agree completely. the whole built-in amazon-only thing sounds a bit microsoft-ish as well. perhaps it will be a new sherlock feature?

Don't worry, BMW does door to door delivery. And I mean delivery. Chauffeur, key, and everything. The moment you click on that demo, your doorbell will ring. Me, I'd prefer a segway.
Sorry, there's only one click, so you can only order, not (1) decide what you want and then (2) order, because that would be at least two clicks. Luckily, Panther will know what form of transportation is best for you.
looprumors makes up information. don't work yourselves up just yet. riddle me this: what would one-click integration do in the os? the only thing for which one-click is used is to buy things, which you do through some other application (browser, iphoto, etc.). there will not be random ads poping up all over the place letting you click them and magically sending you things, that is what microsoft does and this article said that panther will not be like anything microsoft does. it's a bunch of crap.

Hey now, don't start giving us false hope. Apple hasn't said anything of the sort. If they have, I'll eat my hat. Prove it!
it was a video from apple i watched. i watch all those videos from apple becaus of my job. ill try to dig up some actual proof i can show because i know some of you probably dont believe me. things could change from when i watched that but i am more than positive this will be free just like 10.1

ok i asked my co worker, it was an interview with phil. he explained in detail that it would be every other release. although this can change from when the video was released. i dont feel like arguing with anyone, we will all find out at wwdc. but my point still stands that it will be free from what iver listened too.

Well I doubt something they said 2 years ago is going to be remembered by marketing when they release it this fall. Conditions have changed since then. Since then .Mac was released. Since then iLife was released. Face it, the only way Apple is able to stay on top is high margins. Apple is not going to give up an opportunity for profit so easily. If you can actually dig up that video and show to us at which minute it is said, I'd like to see it.

iJon, and if you are wrong, are you willing to pay my $130? Because you should be willing to find that video unless you want to pay each of us $130 for having to pay more than you said it would cost. Nobody tells me something is free and gets away with it, without giving me proof that it is free.
