Mac Pro 1.1 still worthed?

And I still do not understand it. What is the difference between Xeon and core i -family?
I do understand the marketing differences, because of marketing differences But is there some profound difference, like in memory modules (DIMM vs. ECC DIMM). Or is it just so that production line failure xeons are to be i(x) core products?

both 3.33ghz almost same chip but the i7 980X has some parts disabled.
