I restart the computer and now appear the 2GB's so

mmm so sometimes appear 1GB and sometimes 2GB, that could be an error of the memory, or the slots or ?

here the test with rember app

any more help, thanks to all, I continue test for see the real error

Beats me... you're not really saying what tried and how. So it's like, impossible for me to guess. I guess you need RAM anyway so just try with some different (new) RAM or something.

The RAM in the same slots (unmoved) sometimes appears as 1GB and sometimes 2GB?

hi, again I note this issues:

1. computer start... after 1 minute... FREEZE and FANS start to run
2. sometimes simply restart (rarely) but happens
3. sometimes power light BLINK and machine dont start
4. yesterday I note that just 1GB of Ram appear in the memory (remember I have 2gb)
5. if I start the computer and pass 10min working good... NEVER FREEZE, usually after the 2nd boot everything work well...

I do:
reset PRAM, SMC, run the hardware test, run the Ramber...

the true I dont know what is or what do more... but it seems that is the RAM, so I go try buy 4gb for $50 ... I hope dont waste my money... but maybe is the RAM, that thing that appear sometimes just 1GB maybe is symptom than the other RAM is not working good... I just say...

Im not an expert just I follow the steps that you say me or read online... trying to find the issue.

thanks again

red leds?

I can opened for check it, but what you mean with red leds?

Red lights on your memory riser card indicates one of your memory sticks are defective. As djjclark suggested, try to open your Mac Pro while turned on and check if one of your memory riser cards emits a red light. If there is a red light, try removing and find out which ram stick is defective.

The red lights can be lit up for all kinds of reasons. Mine were coming on for awhile because of a dirty riser connection - but all the RAM was in perfect condition.

- just saying...

Thanks Tesselator. Yep you may be also correct. The riser card may also be defective and not the ram sticks. A friend of mine's 3,1 Mac Pro had a defective Riser card.
