It may lock the external to the cylinder or it might be a Kensington lock. Either way there is the universal symbol for lock near a port.

If there's a Kensington security slot in there, seems odd it would be at the top and not the bottom of the chassis.

Yup, this machines will be on a laboratory.

The students that take classes there are my concern... since if there is an easy way for them to take, carry, bag the cylinder, it becomes dangerous... There is an office there also, but it´s not easy to control the whole lab if the students are taking classes and such... Also, they carry (some of them) huge backpacks and such, and they've managed to take out memory and HDD's from the Macs. (this was before I took charge and installed locks)

I guess we will have to wait until the new MacPros and specs are finalised to check this out.

i don't think there's a kensington slot in there.. but it does appear a cabled lock could be used with the design (it could prevent the shell from sliding up as well as prevent the whole thing from a bout of opportunity theft)

That does seem like an oversight to not include one.

Or completely intentional since there isnt a Kensington slot on many of their other computers. Why does the fact that there wouldn't be a Kensington slot automatically mean its an oversight?

Maybe it's just me, but the presence of or lack of a Kensington lock on the new MP is about item number twenty-eight thousand on a list of things I want to understand.

You can alway try to find the old cable and padlock kit that we used in the 90's. They came with a steel plate on which there was an epoxy like glue pad. Once fixed on the computer it was impossible to remove. The cable was also a 3/8 inches gauge with a heavy duty padlock.
