I'm kind of wondering if this might be caused by wear and tear when shutting down and starting up the Mac. I have two 2008 Mac Pro's with the 2 X 3.2 GHz quad core processors and they've been running practically 24/7/365 since late 2009 without the problems that have been talked about here. They only go down for hardware and software updates that require a shutdown, and when there is a power outage. They both each have their own APC UPS so even for a power outage it's only when it is a long one.

Probably not. I have shut mine down virtually every night and restarted it virtually every morning since 2008.
In the last year or so, it has probably had that number of restarts on top while developing for RefindPlus/OpenCore.

Sorry for not responding. Yea when I replaced my logic board the issue stopped as well. It could have been a malfunctioning capacitor or a damaged board from liquids or heat (over time). Hoping mine will last as well :)
How is it after these 2 years, mine is doing that and I'm thinking of doing the same but idk If it's worth it
