Mac Pro 4,1 booting into black screen

I haven't had that problem yet. I use username and password mode so I can type the username and password regardless to if I can see the textbox or not, but thanks for the tip!

I was able to successfully upgrade to the two X5690 processors I got and it's now working perfectly. The only problem is I'm not sure why my RAM is running at only 1066MHz even though it clearly says 1333MHz on the RAM modules, I guess I need to ask OWC.

These Geekbench scores makes me kind of sad…

Did you zap-PRAM?

Agreed - when I flashed my 4,1 to a 5,1 and installed 1333 RAM, I remember I had to reset PRAM 2 or 3 times and do several restarts before it suddenly recognized the RAM as 1333. Never had a problem after that.

Real sad is the cMP can easily get way higher compute performance then the nMP with just a fraction of the cost.
