hmm interesting, so far I understand the rom is something for the GPU, right?

and V1 is what?, very old?, pirated? o_O

and there is a solution with V7 u say? do u have a 980 running without any issues?

sorry but this is all new to me. need to read something about this...

thanks for ur input!

I just got back from the Apple Store in Munich regarding a different question, but related to your problem.
They told me to stick to the old file system when using Windows boot camp in HS to have the old style boot selector mode (ALT). Somehow the new AFS does not work well with boot camp. - For me, this means my really great Bootcamp / Apple Hybrid System days are counted and soon to be over. Mojave does not go this route, I will need to freeze up my Hybrid system on High Sierra permanently with my current Nvidia GPU configuration. -> We sit in the same boat.

This means for you, if you did install High Sierra with AFS, your booting/boot screen most likely does not work for you anymore.
I think you need to install HS with the old classic file system, this will give you back your boot screen capability.
Its the only problem that makes sense in your case. Do a fresh HS install with the old file system and see what happens.
The only reason why I did not experience this problem is that of my El Capitan master drive. I am always one or two OSX versions behind because of reliability risk issues and boot camp complexity. Unfortunately, I will have to upgrade eventually to HS myself.

I am sure there is a great macrumors forum info in the software section as well. I did not have time to read on this yet. Good luck and give a short feedback if the problem was solved.

I tried it today! HFS+ (Mac OS Extended (Journaled)) don't make any difference. I have the same problem.

The terminal command is also a bit different, I had a bad syntax: no such file or directory!
The best to avoid this path error: drag and drop the USB Installer into the terminal!
It gives u the right path and then add at the end: (--volume /Volumes/(name of ur SSD) --converttoapfs NO)

So it must be something else. I thought its a good idea to try it, because I had that feeling it worked already once, when I switched from Captain to High Sierra, but I was not sure. Now I know: COMPUTER SAYS NOOOO! ;)

Btw: I was considering to install windows too, after I make everything running! Now I run only High Sierra!

I have to press the "alt" key to select my SSD drive where High Sierra is installed and then he starts as usual. View attachment 804052 View attachment 804053

If you are able to get to the Boot Selection screen with the Option (or Alt) ⌥ key, then highlight your boot drive using the arrow keys on your keyboard, hold the Control (or Ctrl) ⌃ key and the the up arrow ⇧ will change to a reload symbol ↻, finally hit enter or hit reload symbol ↻, this should make the Boot Selection permanent.

Hope this works for you.

However, does anybody had a flashing service by Mac store UK ?
I wanted to send my GTX 980 for reflashing, but nobody replys on my emails...
I tried also to call them, but the phonenummber from the website seams to be wrong...

hmmmm any suggestion?!
