Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has the Mac rom for a GTX 1080 ti?

I’ve got it working on win 10 and High Sierra but I don’t have the boot screen.

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Thank you

Let us know if it works as designed.
I tried both ROMS but still no boot screen. I used nvflash and just dragged the file onto the .exe. Screen went black and then came back on after a few seconds. Rebooted and nothing changed, maybe nvflash doesn’t work? Here is the specs of it.

This one definitely did something because my display wouldn’t come back on, had to boot on the Mac AMD card. I’ll try the next one and let you know

No joy :( do I need to be booting to OS X first for it to work or should it just automatically show a Bootscreen when restarting from windows?

Boot screen will only show if you requested it during boot.
Yeah I’ve been pressing alt for the boot options, I’ve gone into OS X and it’s not recognising the 1080 to now. Reinstalling the web drivers just to see if that helps

From High Sierra execute this in terminal:
Code:
sudo nvram manufacturing-enter-picker=true && sudo reboot

This command should reboot you to the boot picker.
Make sure only the 1080 is installed

FINALLY WORKING!!

So I when the screen was going black it I didn’t realise it was asking me to click ‘Y’ on terminal to execute the rom dump. I installed the original GPU and clicked pressed ‘Y’ and let it dump the Rom then turned it off. Took out the old card and then booted and got the boot screen!

Thank you for your help @startergo I really appreciate it.

For info, there are at least two more cards use the same PCB as the reference 1080Ti. So, even you want to have the reference PCB to ensure compatibility, it's not necessary to bug the reference card.

Besides, for my XLR8 1080Ti, Pixlas mod is optional (but that's the recommended way to power a 1080Ti). As long as I balanced the power draw between the 8pin and 6pin, the card can work even in Furmark.
(this post is about Radeon VII, but I used the same method to power my 1080Ti).

hey there, i just fitted an MSI 1080 TI into a dual processor Mac Pro 5.1.
this is the first time using a nvidia card for a mac pro and i know macOS is only supported until High Sierra due to the webdrivers issue.
Still i can't seem to get the card working in macOS. i used the original gpu (GT120) to install the webdrivers using the script by Benjamin Dobell (https://github.com/Benjamin-Dobell/nvidia-update) and it seemed to work fine.
In Windows 10 the card works. its powered via Pixlas Mod.

Is there anything else i need to do to get the card to work in HighSierra? Also this thread doesn't really explain how to flash the gpu firmware. im assuming its done in win with this vBIOSinsert.sh script. would this work on my msi card? and what does it actually do? boot screen support?

sorry for the stupid questions as i said its the first nvidia mac i'm building and with amd it was always relatively plug and play...

thabks for the help!

You don't need to flash the card anymore. Instead, you can flash the cMP with EnableGop. GTX 1080Ti should come with UEFI GOP from factory. Once you flashed the cMP with EnableGop, your 1080Ti should show you the boot screen natively.

For web driver issue, please check if your web driver version match your OS build.

Also, from memory, few months ago, it seems all web drivers were dead due to security certificate expired. By that time, I haven't use 1080Ti in macOS anymore. Therefore, I haven't follow that news closely. But you may search that a bit, to know at the end how people fix it.

If there is a newly signed version, may be the Benjamin script missed that, and causing the issue.

ah yes nice. i recently did the enableGop fix to my Radeon VII and it worked well, so i know how to do it but if i'm not mistaking i would need to be able to boot into macOS with the 1080 installed or does this not matter at all?

If I remember correctly, you can install web driver in macOS with any graphic card. Of course, you can do that with the 1080Ti if you can see the boot screen via EnableGop.

Hello everyone,
You've made me want your GTX 1080 cards so much that I managed to find an EVGA GTX 1080 FTW at a very low price (broken fans) to replace the GT 120 on my good old Mac Pro.
It's going to be a big change for me to have a card with 8 gigs of RAM, equal to the RAM on my Mac.

However, I'm having trouble understanding the technical operations required to modify the VBIOS.

What is the vBiosInsert.sh script for making the changes?

In your opinion, is it possible to flash the VBIOS from a EVGA GTX 1080 TI?

My VBIOS version 86.04.17.00.80

My backup from GPU-Z :
my-biosGP104.rom

The VBIOS downloaded from Techpowerup :
EVGA.GTX1080.8192.160607.rom

Many thanks in advance.
