Just an FYI, low profile GPU does not equal single slot. Many use heatsinks or other cooling mechanisms that would basically make them dual slot internal size, despite only one row of ports on the card. That would be an issue if you truly need single slot.

if the bottom gpu slot is free then there's some flexibility if not a blower is probably needed and a GT120 will fit fine

Just be careful with the lower end GTX 10XX series cards. They are usually not based on a reference design and there were no NVIDIA founders edition versions ever made for them. Driver compatibility in the future MIGHT be an issue. On a personal note, avoid the Zotac cards when using with Mac - they are usually more modified than other manufacturers, which creates driver compatibility issues.

Hi, personnaly, I'm using a GTX 1050 single slot card from Inno3D, who works well with the Nvidia drivers (High Sierra 10.13.4), but no boot screen. Price : 190$/160€
75w, one slot , 640 Cuda Cores, Standard Display Connectors : 1 Dual Link DVI-D, 1 HDMI 2.0b, 1 DisplayPort 1.4
There's also the same model with more Ram and Cuda Cores the 1050Ti single slot.

If you want boot screens, my understanding is you can flash a FirePro W7000. (FirePro equivalent of 4GB Radeon 7870).

ive found this to be true as well. sometimes they're spot on, other times no luck whatsoever.
Same is true for XFX on the AMD/ATI side of things, which is a shame because XFX cards usually have some slick (non-gaudy) design.

great cards, wish I could get one, but that company doesnt have any US distribution. Seems to always be the case with single-slot GPU solutions. Guess video card makers just assume US GPU users are like US truck drivers... bigger always means better right? Galax has made a bunch of single-slot solutions as well (believe they had a single-slot GTX680?) that never make it to US shores...

(edit) yup, Galax makes a single-slot GTX1070 now...

Hi kwikdeth, I've found one GTX 1070 Katana, on ebay, and there's some cards actually. ;)
I've replaced my GTX 1050 1 slot, it's a nice improvement, maybe I'll buy an another one, when I'll sell my GTX 1050. :)

You're quite right! I see several have sold recently. I will be keeping an eye out and thanks for remembering me!! :D

If you don't need EFI, you can use a GT 1030.

I have a GT 1030 in mine and it works well with web drivers, but there are no web drivers currently for Mojave. You would have to run High Sierra. If you are okay with this a Gigabyte low profile active cooling GT 1030 would probably work well for you.

The Gigabyte low profile passively cooled GT 1030 has exactly this issue. The heatsink is ENORMOUS.

Are there any single slot GPUs for Mac Pro 5.1 that are metal capable? Would like to use the first slot for another PCIe card that has daughter card. Thank You.

No, you can't. The display output configuration is too different - all display outputs will die when attempted. I spent quite a bit of time trying to make it work.

It works fine unflashed with no boot screens, thought the performance is a bit disappointing.

WX 7100, (WX 5100)
So just to be clear, either the WX7100, or WX 5100 will work on Mac Pro 5.1 and run Mojave, takes a single slot and have a boot screen, no flashing needed correct ?. Do these cards work on say El Capitan or High Sierra. I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2048 MB, that works on all OS, but is taking a double slot and need that space now for a daughter card from another PCIE card I have installed. Appreciate your help. Cheers.

No boot screen without Opencore. If bootscreen is needed please check Opencore thread.
Mojave works fine at least with WX 7100, and I think with WX 5100 too. Please google or use forum search for this to make sure.

You don't want to mix AMD and nVidia anymore, they don't work nicely together from Mojave on. Might have been some graphical glitches on High Sierra allready then mixed together.

I would take the WX 7100, with no nVidia installed at all. Power feed would be ok, only one six-pin needed for the card.
