This is the outcome of the new High Sierra Drive. Sometimes the bar would load further, but would never finish

How can I do a AHT/ASD on my MP? I've tried holding D and Option D but no luck?

Can you access recovery partition by holding Command + R to boot? (With GTX680)

If not, what’s on the screen?

How about holding Command + V to boot? (With GTX680)

What’s on the screen?

Is the OS on a HDD or SSD?

At first I couldn't but I've just removed everything internal - Ram, Processors etc and replaced them again and I've managed to get to Mac Utilities. Do you suggest I just reinstall High Sierra?

The OS is on a SSD.

This GitHub article shows how to download/install/run AHT:

Thanks a lot. will have a look if this doesn't work...

Yes, re-install the macOS to eliminate the possibility of having corrupted system files etc.

That doesn't looks like your original macOS drive, total 256GB, and 250GB empty.

I've used another SSD to download it onto.

So I've managed to get onto my Desktop with the stock HD, but still nothing with the RX 580

Sorry, I am completely lost.

What's "stock HD"? Which OS?

Why select another locked SSD as target drive? Did you format that to GPT HFS+?

The Stock HD is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 I'm running on High Sierra.

This SSD wasn't locked and yeah I formatted it to GPT HFS+.

So my next step is to get the my MP to work with my RX 580 and eventually my main drive running Catalina

So, your "HD" means "graphic card".

If you formatted that SSD, why there are 6GB data on it? Can you re-format it again, make sure it's clean?

Sorry, meant GPU.

That isn't my main SSD that's just another spare one - I'm ignoring that now.

How would you suggest I go about getting my Catalina SSD and my RX 580 up and running again?

If you want to install Catalina with RX580, you should do exactly per this post

My RX 580 still doesn't work with my High Sierra Install though? Which It was originally?

I've managed to get it working again. Thanks for your help everyone

Can you add some details on how you fixed the problem for posterity? I'm assuming that somewhere along the line of bringing the machine down to its base config and bringing it back up the video started to work again. It seems like you had the combination of two problems: first, your were using a video card with no pre-boot environment support, second, you had an error in your install disk that was preventing the machine from booting to the post-boot environment. So the first problem was solved by putting the old gpu in, then reinstalling High Sierra. Once that was done, you could put the new GPU back in and boot up. Is that about right?

1. First of all I stripped down the Mac to bare-bones with just the stock NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 inserted.

2. I then tried to use my old High Sierra drive to boot which didn't work, So I created a new bootable installer for High Sierra with Dosdude1. So now I have a blank SSD and a bootable HS SSD.

3. I then turned my Mac on holding the options key to select the HS drive and then erased the blank drive again with AHT/ASD just to make sure. Then I selected that drive to Install my new OS.

4. My mac successfully booted to HS, I tried putting my RX 580 in but still had no luck.

5. I then put my old Catalina SSD and selected it from boot options and it worked.

6. Finally I replaced the stock GPU with the RX 580 and everything worked!

I had a problem when I first put the RX 580 in, the screen froze so I reset the Mac and everything has been fine since. Other than a few other weird freezing problems with Spotify for some reason.
