MP 1,1-5,1 Mac Pro 5,1 w/ OpenCore 7.4 and Monterey: RX 580 no DP

So last night I took the plunge and upgraded from Catalina to Monterey on my 5,1. All went fairly smooth except I seem to have lost the ability to use both display port outputs on my Radeon RX 580 Pulse. Worked fine up until now, does anyone know what could cause this? I am currently using OC 7.4 and the basic HW acceleration configuration provided here which has done everything I need up until now. For reference, the HDMI outputs work fine, however my monitor only supports 30 HZ over HDMI and 60 HZ over DP so it would be preferable but not a total deal breaker.

I also see that the built in BT and Wifi card are no longer supported but that has already been mentioned. Are there any BT cards that are known to work as WiFi is not needed on the system? Thanks in advance.

An RX580 may not be fully supported in Monterey..who knows.

It's the GPU for numerous iMacs from late-2017 to 2019 and 2019 Mac Pro, it's fully supported by Monterey.

DP problem could be a misconfiguration of OpenCore or even a GPU firmware mining/gaming mod. It's a macvidcards flashed RX 580?

So its a standard flash on the 580 (at least to my knowledge) as it was purchased new and never modified. As for the OC config, Im simply using the Martin Lo package supplied here as Ive never had a reason to modify anything else.

I did come across some other issues along the way though and ended up reverting back to Catalina as a result which turned out to be much more difficult than I would have liked but I was able to do it and all seems to work fine again.

Not really sure what to make of that to be honest.

Dual firmware model? Check the switch position, try the other one.

I'll take a look at that, as I completely forgot those existed, however I believe when it last checked (years ago) it didn't have the switch, but I'll check again and let you know.

I plan on trying to debug the Monterey install on a separate drive I don't daily as a result of what happened, so Im sure I'll be able to test a few things and report back.

Similar strange problem here... Updated to Monterey, full working 2 DP displays in my RX580 Pulse but bluetooth didm't work...

I open de Mac Pro, connect the power cable of the BT in the BCM43960 and BT fixed (Monterey don't detect the internal BT but detect the USB Dongle ¿?) and, from this moment, the second DP display don't show image...

System prefs detect both displays, but only show image in the main monitor...

Not sure about the external dongle, but when I updated, the internal module certainly was not recognized. I believe this is due to the fact that it shares the card with the WiFi and is known not to be supported.

i have a mac pro 5.1 and i have installed monterey with opencore, all went smooth and things are running pretty stable, it happens that now i have better graphics with the original graphics cards , transparency etc,, but really poor quality with the saphire radeon RX580 8GB , seems i don't have HW acceleration running, i need a powerfull 3D card to run after effects, autocad etc.. thus the original video card is not enough.

Do you know if there are drivers or something that i can use to have this running properly?

you must do the SIP off and bless in the recovery mode (cmd+r)
and not in the single mode (cmd+s)

Hello,

After being struggling with this and 300 reboots after I still can't apply the bless, I have made:

1. CMD+R entered in recovery mode and do the csrutil disable command I receive the message to restart the computer
2. After restart I made the rest of the steps on my Big Sur with open core ,
3. I receive always that message that I have attached

Don't no what else can I do... :S..

Anyway, if you just want to change OC setting, there is no need to re-bless OC. Just change the config.plist / kext etc inside the EFI partition as you wish, and then reboot.

Seems that now I can boot to the system with my radeon RX580, however now I don't see my top menu bar also the doc is black, all the games I try to open are crashing , seems that I don't have the drivers working or something...

I put here in attach some examples and also from the benchmarking , saying i don't have a compatible device and also the historic of GPU activity you can see it seems to be no activity at all

Are you running a patched Monterey? (e.g. Via OCLP)

If your OS is patched, you better unpatch it to recover the GPU driver.

If you don't know what you've done, you can always re-install the OS, and do NOT apply any patcher after that.

This can also unpatch all system files effectively.
