That actually looks very cool, I'm just wondering how the ports orient...

Good point. The real design flaw (not a functional flaw, just an annoying one) is locating the power button on the same side as all the ports. This makes the user orient the side of the cylinder body with the power button to the 'front'. But this also means all of the cables come out the 'front' and spill out across your desk.

Im guessing the best would be to have them come out the bottom. Only convenient if you dont plug peripherals in and out the whole time.
It would looks the best thay way atleast.
Otherwise coming out the top which would look ****.
I nice stand would actually be one that makes the Mac Pro tilt back 45 degrees. But that could cause problems with how the fan turns.

Yes I totally agree but they have been doing the same thing with the powerbutton on the mac mini for years.
With the old design of the Mac Mini the power button stuck out from the surrounding plastic
making it easy to locate when sticking you hand down then back if your desk to get at it. With the newer designed ones the powerbutton is flush with the plastic and anyone who doesnt know where it is has a hard time finding out unless they rotate the mini and look for it.

I have my 2010 standing in its front so i have easy access to the ports and powerbutton.

That's not a design fault, it was designed to suck air, which is does very well as we know and as you indicated by the fact that it also sucks liquid which is heavier. It's also not a design fault if the Mac Pro is damaged by being dropped on the floor. This is user error.

If you spill a drink onto your work space then you deserve everything you have gotten yourself into. Everything.

While i agree mostly, spills do happen. Desks are surfaces. nMP's go on desks. With the knowledge that we all spill drinks, on desks, that have computers on them - maybe it isn't the best design after all. Whatever rigid code you stick to, if all it takes is one instance of poor judgement to destroy a nMP, it has to partially be a design flaw.

The nMP is a design disaster.

That said, keep acidic beverages away from computers!

No, it will not, i just now tested this with a mac pro and placed it running on top of a wet desk. no vacuum effect what so ever. Off to the wasteland with you!

Did you know that fans run at various speeds at various times?

the G4 cube had an amazing problem? in office environments :D people used to put A4 paper on top of it blocking the vents. (did it just crack the case or die? been to long)

user error i gess, displays/imac's (and thats a big display no one will have it super close) tend to be at the back of the desk so i cant see this being a real problem unless your relay trying to spill your drinks & it's not the first computer that spilling a drink on will give problems some times the users need to learn that.

best story i saw was in a old mac magazine with a G5 and a cat doing markings  broke the G5 tower
