Hi there,

4. PCI slots:
The 2008 model had only one fast PCI, that other ones are slow. Many PCI cards make problems and are a bit twitchi in the 08' for that reason.

Incorrect information. Two of the PCIe slots in the 2008 are 2.0 16x :p

CASLondon You could run a 2006-2008 Mac Pro said:
If the EFI Architechture on the 2006-2007 is 32bit and 64bit on the 2008-2010, why would not all three get dropped at the same time?

There's a well-known firmware hack that allows the 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 to run the 5,1 firmware, which makes the 2009 to 2012 Mac Pros all virtually identical.

Since the 5,1 all 64 bit firmware was being sold new in 2012, it would be surprising if OSX would drop support for the 5,1 firmware for some time. Can't say the same for the 6 year old firmware, or even the 5 year old 4,1 firmware, even if those are 64 bit

nobody knows, but since 5,1 was being sold new up until a little over a year ago, I feel safe assuming another 5 years or so give or take

Very well, give me good news, but there are dangers in doing controndicazioni or upgrade to 5.1?
Also in case of problems you can go back to 4.1?
Some written tutorial on how to make is around?
Thank you.

thanks for the advice, but youtube speaks to upgrade from 4.1 to 5.1 in 2009 MacPro MacPro 2010.
Instead I'm interested by 2008 MacPro 8 core 3.1 to 4.1 understand?
thanks and sorry.
