I'm slow to respond to threads like these, and I'm well aware that there are plenty of other responses, but I'm still going to coin in anyways.
Yes, I have considered getting a new Mac Pro rather than other Apple computers, simply because it's Xeon based. I wouldn't go all full-out and buy a Mac Pro with a 12 core processor and 64GB of RAM, but if I had the money, I would. I wouldn't need that kind of hardware though. It's the same thing with the HP Z820 - insanely powerful and hardware I wouldn't need anytime soon, but if I had the money, I'm stupid enough to buy it.
If I did have enough money and was more sensible, I'd buy a base model Mac Pro. I could use the optimized applications well, and I'd dual boot it with Windows so I could play my games on it. I think it's a better deal than other Windows workstations out there.
