Well - and this is coming from an X-Plane fan - it kind of depends on how you see it. It's accepted that the flight model for X-Plane is more accurate, but that's only one factor in the overall experience. Some of these add-ons for FSX get very thorough with respect to avionics and systems, and I'm not sure that X-Plane has add-ons that can compete with this level of detail (although I may be wrong here, and in fact, I'd like to be).

We can talk about the flight model all day long, but at the end of the day people are 'flying' 747s with joysticks and swinging the gear with a mouse or press of the keyboard. That's why the FSX/X-Plane debate has always been amusing to me. Fun is fun. If the sim is giving you enjoyment, I don't see much point in harping about anything else.

Very well said. I agree 100%. I was able to spend a few hours today in front of the Computer with both Xplane and FSX. I love them both. I just installed Xtraffic for FSX and It's loads of fun flying around buzzing other aircraft. And some of the scenery I have is amazing. I also spent time in Xplane with some challenging take off and landing. I so glad we have both to choose from. I do wish FSX ran on osx:apple:

Someone Speak English!! :)

Okay, this is coming from a brand new Mac convert and PC 'tard. :) I am new to the Mac and to the FSX. Until reading your posts and other forums' posts, I never heard of X-Plane or Plane-X. :) So here is my issue. I just bought a MAC Book Pro 13", 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 memory, 250GB and it runs on Super unleaded gas! :) So, as I cut and paste the specs so that you can see... what does it all mean really? I mean, I don't need to know what it "means", just what do I need to run the FSX that I just bought (along with the yoke, rudder pedals, and throttle control)? Will it work or do I need to get a different computer? Do I need upgrades of some sort? Oh, I should mention that I had a friend install Bootcamp and partitioned 50GB of the 250GB drive to Win 7. The only reason I did that was to run the FSX and another couple of games.

Sorry for the layman's questions fellas... but you guys are talking French to me. Thanks for the help!

The bottom (IMO) line FSX will run but the computer is going to run very hot.

Okay, thanks. I appreciate the response.

Will FSX run decent? If I get X-Plane, will it run smoother or better? What would the settings be to config the game for best results in FSX? Can upgrade anything?

Oh, one more thing please. I'm sure that a computer running hot is a bad thing. Would one of those air flow pads help out? I'm sure it wouldn't hurt, but what to do?

Thanks for the help,

Chris

I think x plane and FSX will run about the same. They are both good but also very different.
As far as FSX Settings I would starl at medium and go up or doen from there. Just remember ai traffic is a frame rate killer.

The fun of bothe these sims is the experimentation.

Okay thanks! I should have them here in a week or so. I'll have to see how it performs.
