I don't think it's going to happen period. I really think we're done now. :(

"Professor, without knowing precisely what the danger is, would you say it’s time for our viewers to crack each other’s heads open and feast on the goo inside?"

"Yes, I would, Kent"

Frustration starts to kick in

So it's Thursday.... Why won't this damn Apple store close?

Cause they care more about releasing another iPhone, another iPad, etc which they can sell to millions.

I have my hackintosh build list ready, but stupid as I am, I still beleive they will release a new Mac Pro. I could live with an non glossy iMac, but if they don't launch that soon, I'll be switching sides.

Rather I take the hustle of a hackintosh, then be waiting for months for a new Mac Pro, which might never come.

Sounds stupid I know, but Apples way of making buisness starts to piss me off. Sorry

Me to. I'm sick of the silence. Looked at HP workstations yesterday. I configured the following..
Intel® Xeon® E5-2680 2.70 20MB 1600 8C
Intel® Xeon® E5-2680 8C 2.70 20MB 1600 CPU-2 (Must be same speed as Processor 1.)
HP Z820 Localization Kit
HP Dual Processor Air Cooling Kit (Supported with Dual Processors only.)
AMD FirePro V7900 2GB Graphics
HP 16GB (8x2GB) DDR3-1600 2-CPU RAM
HP 1000GB SATA 7200 1st HDD
16X SuperMulti DVDRW SATA 1stODD
HP Single Unit Packaging
HP USB Standard Keyboard
No Included Mouse
HP 3/3/3 Warranty

Cost after 27% discount $7,395.12 including Tax!

That is one kick ass machine, and it's everything I can do to hold myself back. After WWDC I'm switching if Apple remains tight lipped! Plus a 3 year warranty, and it's shipping!

I'd like the Z620 with 2x E5-2650's (the 8 core at 2.0). With the 20%, its about $4,400 without any other upgrades. That's a heck of deal, I wonder how much Apple will charge for the equivalent machine? It won't be any less than $4,999, but I can see it being more.

Good luck. I had to fix a Win machine the other day. 1st time in years. What a pain in the ass. All my Apple complaints and I forget about practical issues like actually using a PC for work instead of video games. Outlook import and export and .pst's and the like. Ridiculous design and usage decisions. Settings don't transfer, everything is a banner ad that pops up. Still. After all these years. Can't believe the crap they put the general public through to use a computer. It seems almost on purpose. Just a muttering experience. I think I will switch to Windows when the only Apple option is a tablet. Not until then. Give me an all in one I don't care but keep consumer based Windows away from me. And I LIKE Windows. or did.

First off I would be using this just to run Lightwave and other 3D apps for my business nothing else. I have used Windows before, and I have to tell you it's simply not as bad as some people make it out to be! Naturally I would rather stay with Apple, but Apple has to offer me something I can use that isn't already obsolete! Sorry, but I'm pretty much over Apple. I'm trying very hard to hold out till WWDC, but that is my limit!

It's not that bad, but personally, I'm way heavily invested in thousands of dollars in audio and graphic apps specifically for the mac, and I like the platform. I have dual boot but rarely see the windows side anymore. I'd probably downgrade somewhat just to stay with mac in the end but I won't exactly be happy about the change. I'm really wondering how Apple can justify these long intervals between product releases. Even the new iphone 5 is probably a 18 month separation. Doesn't seem like the best marketing plan. Yes, I realize that Intel's schedule dictates most of the long waits for the mac side.

Like most here, I'm eagerly awaiting the refresh / update of the Mac Pro line so I can replacing my aging 1,1. I've been mostly keeping up with this thread and not sure if anyone noticed this yet, but it looks like the stock 12-core model is now 2-4 days on the US Apple site. Hopefully this means next week the new ones might finally get announced!

I am hoping it happens next week. However, doesn't this mean that they have more Mac Pros in stock and that way they're able to ship these faster?
Ugh, Apple is killing me!!! I need to replace my 2010 MBP as soonest possible. >.<

Actually it's been that way for many weeks. In fact it had jumped to 3-5 days for several days, then jumped back down to 2-4. So I would say it means nothing. Like I said, I'm giving them till WWDC, and if nothing has happened I'm jumping ship! I can't play this game forever, and that machine I configured at HP looks very tempting.

Sorry, I guess I didn't realize it was already 2-4 days for the stock 12-core. I thought the previous mentions of 2-4 and 3-5 days were for BTO configurations. It's harder than I thought to read the tea leaves.

The HP configuration that you put together does looks awesome! Hopefully you won't have to jump ship and the next Mac Pros are equally spec'd. Unfortunately, we have invested so much into the Apple ecosystem that it would be cost prohibitive for us to make the change. That being said, I don't know what we will do if they don't update the Mac Pro line or kill it all together.

Well, I have a one year old 27" iMac that I can use for everything else I do. I'll just switch over my 3d software which will only. It's me $50.00 for the dongle. It's really a shame because I've been with Apple since the Apple 2, but I'll really have no choice. I think I may have lost a $10,000 job today because I can't deliver when they want it. Just thought, I will also still have my old Mac Pro to model on as well.

Stores in Sweden

Howdy,

I was at my local Apple Store here in southern part of Sweden Yesterday. Went in pretending i wanted the baseline Mac Pro. Sadly they were out of stock, so was the 8 Core model as well. Smelling like a shortage indeed.

Now the apple store online here in sweden has been telling us the Mac Pro ships in 4-5 days for 7 days now :)

At least something is going on. Feel comfort my fellow drewlers! :D

Maybe Apple is bummed Intel stopped making Westmere? Intel keeps telling Apple they CAN upgrade, you know. They do have faster more recent offerings. Apple is having none of that. "We are waiting until our iPads match up to Mac Pro speeds." Too much disparity in the line-up. Nothing will be faster than anything else. Form factor is all that matters in the future. ;)

If that were the case, then Apple could go screw themselves which they will.

I'm pretty sure that was a joke. :p

(Man, there are a lot of worked up people in this thread. Everything still points to a refresh. Calm the hell down everyone.)

Couldn't wait with my 10 month old 2010 2.8 as the warranty was running out so had to buy Applecare to extend it another 2 years.

Any Bets for the 8th ?? :p

Lets get the Bets rolling I say, I guess we have to keep ourselves occupied until they get the New Mac Pro :)

How many of you think it will be tommrow?
How many of you think it will be next week?
How many of you think it will be around WWDC?

My Heart says TOMORROW, my Head says around WWDC !! :)

:apple:

It might happen tomorrow or next week. I am highly doubtful about it happening during WWDC. This year WWDC will be about software so to insert a Mac Pro in there seems a bit odd. Also, Apple doesn't usually announce anything in keynotes unless it's like a huge design change or something. I doubt we'll ever see a design change on the Mac Pro.

I don't see any reason WWDC would be a logical place for an introduction. WWDC is going to be mostly about iOS 6, they aren't going to have time for Mac hardware announcements. And existing stock isn't going to last that long.

But the entire rest of the Mac line is due for an update by June.

I think unless they are planning another back to mac sort of deal, it will happen before during or after the even with no direct concern for the event. The whole line is ripe for a re-do and I think as soon as they are ready they will let them rip regardless of any event or not.

Really? Maybe, but it seems awfully quiet for an imminent refresh.... and quite frankly I don't think these fluctuations in stock mean anything at all. I am surprised anyone would pay full retail for a 2 year old product technology at this late date though.

It's not just stock shortages, it's full on stock outages. A major production ramp down at exactly the time Intel ships new Xeons implies refresh to me.

There was a recall on Mac Pros in the uk purchased in March and April. They found that the batch had faulty drives, made by WD if I recall correctly. The numbers were in the double digits so a couple are still sold.
