My Mac Pro is waking up from sleep so many times a night and my 38" screen is also showing a "No Signal" message every time the computer is waking up.
Bluetooth is off, wifi is off, enable Power Nap is off as well as wake for network access.
the only way to stop it is to disconnect the ethernet cable.
Why is this happening? it never happened with my 2009 Mac Pro.

In a similar note, and not to hijack this thread, but lately, I have been getting random black screens with "no signal" on my 7,1 -- and I have to reboot in order to get it to work again. Unplugging/reconnecting, or selecting other input sources and then coming back to DP does nothing.

The weirdest part is, I have not software updated or anything recently. Still on 13.1, although I DO have the "download and install only security updates" checkbox enabled -- so I am thinking perhaps these issues are coming from that?

@Logix1 have you updated macOS recently?

Try to unplug / plug you power cord of your monitor, it might work instead of rebooting your Mac. I had something similar happened with my old Mac Pro.
"download and install only security updates" is disabled here, so it's got to be something else.

This option is disabled so unless something/somebody is hacking my computer, it's probably something else.

Turn off wifi or if you are hardwired -- unplug the ethernet cable.

Alternately, if hardwired, you can try the following:

Thanks for the help.
I never use wifi so it's off, and as I wrote in the OP when I disconnect the ethernet cable the computer won't wake up from sleep, and the same goes for the "make inactive" option but is it really the solution? this is not supposed to happen if wake for network access is disabled. I was hoping that I won't have to unplug the ethernet cable or manually make inactive from network preference every night.

It would help if you provided more info like for example: what version of macOS you are running, etc...

What you are experiencing -- I had that happen to me on my 5,1 a few times, but that was a known issue back then, after I upgraded to Monterey it stopped, but that was a 5,1 with OpenCore, NOT a 7,1...

Still, there must be some process or hardware that is using the network or perhaps your CPU, causing it to wake from sleep.

For example, if I leave Steam running, I get this: (I accidentally forgot to quit Steam before I put my machine to sleep and woke up to this today)

Code:

Still, despite the above running, my machine remained asleep all night. AFAIK, monitors did not power on.

Update: Further research into what you've provided above means you're having Kernel panics -- so something in your hardware is causing kernel panics.

Have you tried removing your RX-7900 XTX? <-- since it's not currently supported in macOS, I wonder if the Mac Pro is detecting it under macOS and then freaking out? Just a thought *shrug*

With the RX 7900 installed I couldn't get the computer to sleep at all so what I'm reporting here is with only W5700X on macOS Ventura 13.3.1 but it happened with Monterey 12.6.4/5 as well.
I tried both the internal and external SSD drives, I formatted the internal drive and didn't install anything at all on the computer and it still happened.
Kernel panics might makes sense, I didn't buy the computer brand new so who knows, the question is what hardware could I change to fix this?

And (I know the answer is likely no, but am going to ask anyway) you don't have anything else connected atm right?

No other USB cables, USB hubs, audio interfaces or anything else? all ports are disconnected (except for your monitors)

Edit: have you tried an NVRAM and SMC reset?

I tried to disconnect everything from the computer for one night but it didn't help, the issue is not USB related.
Only if I disconnect the ethernet cable sleep will work as it should.
and yes I tried an NVRAM and SMC reset.
I think I will need to take it to an Apple Store eventually but the closest one is 3 hours away so I'm hoping to solve it myself.

Yeah, before you take it to apple -- run the onboard diagnostic test.

Okay that link might help, I just tried "pmset -g log |grep "Wake Request" and what I get is:
2023-05-03 03:43:43 -0700 Wake Requests [*process=mDNSResponder request=Maintenance deltaSecs=7198 wakeAt=2023-05-03 05:43:41 info="upkeep wake"] [process=powerd request=UserWake deltaSecs=17129 wakeAt=2023-05-03 08:29:12 info="com.apple.alarm.user-visible-com.apple.CalendarNotification.EKTravelEngine.periodicRefreshTimer,391"]
This line ^ repeated 99% of the time but I also had 3 lines that are different:
2023-04-30 03:58:21 -0700 Wake Requests [*process=mDNSResponder request=Maintenance deltaSecs=7195 wakeAt=2023-04-30 05:58:16 info="upkeep wake"] [process=powerd request=UserWake deltaSecs=8591 wakeAt=2023-04-30 06:21:33 info="com.apple.alarm.user-visible-Weekly Usage Report,397"]
So I just disabled the Calendar notifications and I hope it will help but what is the other one?
Thanks for the help guys.

Done.
I will report tomorrow, I have a feeling that it will work as it should now after disabling calendar notification and this terminal command.

If not, maybe try what I linked in post 12 above. That will reset your machine's sleep/wake schedule, and should fix it (if it's still happening).

That darn computer🤬
Still no luck.
I get the same "com.apple.CalendarNotification.EKTravelEngine.periodicRefreshTimer,388"] in terminal although I disabled calendar notification, but it was still enabled on my iPhone so I just disabled it there too.
I will try now the link from post #12
