Yes you can, but not with that CPU, wrong socket. The socket for the 4,1 and 5,1 is LGA 1366.

Wow I need to start reading the digits correctly, you are right, that was the wrong socket. But now I'm screwed...intel doesn't offer any cpu with that socket anymore!:eek::mad::mad:

So that means no more upgrade on the cpu part if I'm correct? unless it's second hand?

Edit: So I realized they still show the 3000 and 5000 series there, while I was looking into the E5 series!

And I realized that CAD softwares still use single core and don't have any multicore. However I was told a quad core is good for running 2 OS as the same time.

So I start checking Ebay Mac Pros, and well there are some good deals!

The price of the refurb 2.4Ghz 12 core Mac on Apple Online is 3450$ with tax included.

Now there's this ebay guy that is selling his 2010 2.93Ghz 12 core, 5870 and 32GB of ram for 3500! He said it had the 3 year apple warranty and that he bought it in 2011 though the Apple Care is expired.

Now I can't decide if I should go with Apple and its 1 year warranty and a machine that worked probably a year or even less, or go with used model from ebay! I get more for my money but they have been working for 3 years now and I've seen many people having problem with their PSU!
