I'm thinking of getting a GTX 550/560 Ti probably the 550 due to cost, will that run Mavericks de-lagged and with my other monitor? Until I can afford a better card?

If you're going to have Mavericks installed, I would spring for a Kepler GPU, so a 600 or 700 series. I personally have a GTX 660 and love the performance, picked it up for about $100 at a local Micro Center on clearance. Ebay probably has even better prices if you don't mind shipping.

My mate has a 660 in his PC build which he might be selling soon so might hang on and maybe get that off him, the lag on Mavericks is a bit annoying but only having one monitor is even more! I would put up with the lag if I could have a 2nd screen! thanks mate

I used a 5770 in my MP 1,1 with Mavericks with Chameleon, then Tiamo's bootloader till Jan '14. With Logic, GarageBand, Reaper and various odd bits of sound producing software, the card behaves very well.

For 50 quid for a genuine Apple 5770, I don't know why you haven't already got the card! :)

Even if it didn't work out for you, you could sell it for at least double that.

I will go for it then!

Thanks again, I'd spotted Ballicom, but have never used them before.

Most of the time their prices are too high, but occasionally they sell stuff very cheap including mac stuff from OWC (who distribute the NWT). Bought sleds, a few PCIe cards for clients etc at prices far lower than normal. Fast shipping too.

Can't go wrong with that for a bullseye if it works fine!

Ive just got to find £50 quid! Why does PayPal hold eBay money for so long!

Can't you just paypal the seller to his account or does he want cash? If you transfer it to your bank you're looking at Tuesday earliest..

I haven't bought it yet as I don't have anything to pay with! The money PayPal is holding is from my sales on eBay so suppose I will have to wait and hope it doesn't go! If it does it does, I have contacted PayPal though so you never know they might give me my money sooner!

You could try messaging the seller explaining the delay, buy it and as long as they don't have immediate payment selected on the listing (usually power seller traders only) you can buy now then pay in a few days to avoid someone else grabbing it!

Yeah I think I'll do that I always thought if you don't pay instantly it doesn't come off the bay, I'll buy it anyway!
