Not totally jacked!:p Looking thru the post you see:
1. Mentioning of specific PCIe slot numbers #1-#4 showing 2.0 v. 1.0 v. X4 v. X16
(which lets one know that the slots differ if one did not know)
2. Apricorn Velocity Solo x2 as the way to go to get the "full" speed of the SSD
3. Which PCIe slot to place it in
4. How the back plane is 3.0 v. using the Solo x2 to get 6.0

Just so happened that 2 people were looking for SSD assistance in the same post. In the end there was enough information to solved both issues! :D

Next generation cards are literally flowing off the production lines and coupled with the right NGFF M.2 PCIe SSD, they will put any current solution for the Mac Pro to shame.

I may be missing something here.
1. You had a 2008 with the SSD in PCIe slot #4 getting slow speeds because #4 is 1.0 X4
2. PCIe slots #1 & #2 (2.0 X16) had video cards in them and slot #3 is the same as #4 1.0 X4
3. You order a 2010 with 3 PCIe slots all 2.0 Now you can put one 5770 in slot #1 2.0 X16 and the other 5770 in slot #2 2.0 X4
4. Your SSD will now be placed in PCIe slot #3 2.0 X4 to hopefully get the "full" speed of that SSD

What was missing is how the "speed" will be used. When it's all said and done with "that" speed be sufficient? That was a lot to do to get the full speed of an SSD! Were your "issues" the slow speed of the SSD or dealing with things (video editing) on regular HD's?

But then again to go from a 3,1 to a 5,1 you will never look in the rear view mirror! :p

Switching everything over to the 5,1 6-Core that came in today did the trick

I am getting at least 4 times the Read-Write Speed I was getting the MacPro 2008 with the restrictive PCI bus.

Here is what I just got using the Samsung EVO as a boot drive on my new 2012 5,1 6-Core…

Indeed lol. Enable trim and let the OS tidy it up, I disable the sleep overnight and that usually is long enough. You should be getting much faster speeds than you currently have currently but with the older chipsets it varies wildly, especially running Windows. I have a thinkpad t61p with intel ich8 and a v300 which with the newer rst drivers up to 10.5 runs like a pig yet with the older 9.6 drivers behaves like it should.

Repair the disk permissions in disk utility too then check the speed again after.
