I have a Galant table, glass top + T legs from IKEA, I bought the summera computer holder to hold my Mac Pro, it attaches to the metal frame of the desk.

I have that too, and it's perfect. I lined the bottom of the tray with gaffer tape to eliminate metal to metal contact and to help prevent any movement of the MP case.

I have those T legs like in the picture, under the wood the frame extends right to the ends and comes close the the front and back edges, so I don't think there's enough room to fix anything there.

You just loosen the screws holding the table top to the frame to give a little room to slip the clamps between the frame and the table top. Once it's installed you can tighten everything down again. I have a wood table top for my Galant corner desk rather than the glass top.

Currently, I am using the polystyrene piece that covered the top of the Mac Pro during shipping.

To specify, I don't want to mount anything. I want something with NO wheels, but something that can still slide on a wood floor.

great posts guys, I think I will visit IKEA soon... :)
but I really like that hanging concept much better, and that animation is so cool :D

:D Thanks... but that's just an hour and a half in Lightwave. I know, I'm slow... but I got sidetracked trying to make a realistic looking Mac Pro. :)

hello

Hey, has anyone found anything since this last post? I'm starting to gear towards the MacCuff Pro, but I have a particle board desk, so, that won't work.

C'mon guys, GIVE ME SOMETHING!

:D Showoff! Good to have peeps like you on a forum like this!

I have no real issue with my MP sitting on the floor, i think they look kinda odd just dangling from the underside of the desk, afterall they are on 'feet' anyway.

:D Hehehe :p  <blush>

I was going to do one for HDD installed into the ODD bay too given how many people ask about it - but never got around to it.

Hi Big Malk, I have a Galant too, I had to drill the holes on the metal frames (i used the same screws, nothing special) , it's really solid and it's the same exact color of the ikea frame.

kd_rome,

Can you confirm that you are only using two screws in front and two in the read to mount the Mac Cuff Pro to the Galant frame?

Also, what size drill bit did you use to pre-drill the holes in the frame?

Any issues over time?

I also have the Galant and just picked up a Mac Cuff Pro and am looking forward to replicating your setup.

I'm slightly worried about the T-Legs supporting the weight, but I guess if I really crank down on the set-screws for adjusting the leg height, it should hold.

Thanks,

-A

I just bought that stand for the monitor a couple days ago. I'm currently using the 17" mbp with it but soon I think I'll pick up a 2.26GHz mac pro. I might buy the add on for the desktop holder from ikea.

That looks like the metal part of the holder could scuff up the aluminum on top of the mac pro.

Here is what I did, I built this out of oak and it matches the oak desk I built. Scanner on the top Mac pro ( currently being upgraded) in the center and the base unit for the Bose sound on the bottom. On rollers so it is easy to get to the back

I would also add that in my desk design there is a cut out in the center of the back portion of the top ans a recessed shelf so the 30 " Cinima display sits more at eye level. It is a 2.5 inch drop so the bottom of the Display is right at the desk top level

i know its an old thread but did the following for my two mac pros:
for my 2009 I took some 1.5cm thick wood sheets and built a box, painted it white and there you go. its 40cm high so its next to my desk and the top of the mac pro is about 20cm higher than my desk. that aay i can easily reach USB ports and the cd drive without having to get on the floor.
for my 2010 i took some white 50cm high ikea cubboard, thing. i used a stainless steel silver car foil, which is used to change the colour of your car. stuck it on for a very nice colour. it really looks like stainless steel:) again i placed the mac pro ontop, all the cables are stored in thecubboard. looks very slick.
first one is the cheap one, im considering putting the stainless steel foil on it aswell :)
